Got this to use with a Trianglelab BMG clone on an Ender 3. The BMG has a 3:1 gear ratio, so doesn't need as much torque as the stock extruder. This pancake stepper is much lighter than the stock one, and has easily enough power to drive the BMG, and runs cool. Also, the reversed power on this matches the power on the BMG, so no need to swap wires or reverse it in firmware. Fast delivery, has everything you need. Very happy. EDIT - three months later, just got a second one for my second printer. Again, super fast delivery, insanely good value. My first one is still going strong (I've since converted that printer to direct drive, so the lighter weight is a win), hasn't missed a step, runs cool. If you need a pancake stepper for a geared extruder, just hit Buy Now.

This is a nice little stepper mother and although I have double checked the voltage and amperage going to this motor to make sure it's not exceeding its capacity, this motor still gets very hot. I am running it as an extruder motor on a 3d printer (so the load on the motor is not very high) at 800ma and after about an hour of use, this motor is too hot to touch. Otherwise, the steps are accurate and it works well. The included wire harness included was perfect and worked well, though a little on the long side and required a trim. I didn't have any need for the additional hardware such as the brakes and machine screws, but it was a nice inclusion for the price. For the price and convenience, it's fine, but in hind sight, I should have just paid a little more and bought an LDO and waited a little longer for shipping.

Working well, light weight and pushing my BondTech dual gear extruder without issue. This review is after a couple of months use. No special adjustments. Only one comment, make sure to use the cable that comes with it. When using a direct drive setup the original cable is short so use the longer one that comes with the motor.

Installed this for my ender 3 direct drive conversion to save some weight, and it did just that! Works like it should, 10/10 highly recommend for direct drive setups on any printer!

It gets the job done, the good thing about it is the low weight, you definitely see the difference in your printing experience f u use this in the x axis, all the weight you take out helps a lot

Thought I take the larger / heavier 1.5A stepper off my extruder assembly and replace it with a 1A, as I call them Pancake stepper. They're quite a bit lighter. The experience was pretty disappointing. Even though, they rate the stepper at 1A peak, (I thought it was enough) it runs out of breath very quickly. It simply can't pull (direct drive) the filament. I had set it at about 650mA RMS max. e.g. 1000mA / 1.414 = 707mA (my 1.5A peak stepper is set the same). It is amazing to see that apparently, current isn't the same between the two, just kidding. Even at higher hot end temperatures, it skipped steps left and right. I changed it back to a 1.5A peak stepper, no skipping anymore. The conclusion, it does not serve the purpose in an extruder application, although the weight savings would be handy. Doesn't do me any good, if no or less filament is coming out!

Using it for an extruder motor on a 3d print. Installation was easy but after turning on my Ender 5 pro I noticed the motor was going backwards. I switched both outside wires around and then it worked fine. Hasn't missed a step yet. Will be buying another one.
