    • A must Upgrade for your K40
Size: 35-45W 720mm
There are a few things you should take into consideration when you purchase this tube. 1) Make sure you keep the foam ends for the "hot end". Do NOT install your tube without having something shielding the "hot end" from the metal base, as this tube is a tad longer than the factory K40 40 watt tube. 2) Do NOT replace the ceramic square cap on the "Hot" wire with a typical Romex wire cap, wire splice cap, wire splice box...etc..(Red wire on K40) and be sure to put the ceramic square cap back over the two newly spliced wires. If not, you will have arcing and shorting out. 3) The tube will have issues with the factory retaining/hold down plastic rings as it is a little bigger in circumference. Meaning, do not go crazy tightening it down! The one side of the retainers obviously have a stop point but not the other side, so you can hypothetically crush and break this tube if you are not paying attention. 4) This tube must be water cooled better than the previous iteration. She runs hot, cuts like a torch and is simply one major upgrade that will turn your machine into an animal, so make sure you cool it better than using the included aquarium pump and floppy hose system. I did an entire upgrade with stiff line, flow meter, water pump and water pump coolant (which is pretty expensive but it makes such a HUGE difference) and run your K40 at 35, using Lightburn settings at 100% for cut. I slice through clear acrylic now like it is butter. I have done other major upgrades to the machine using my own air assist system, honeycomb bed...etc...but regardless, this tube makes your K40 into an absolute beast as long as you respect its requirements and don't cheap out or make stupid rookie mistakes with its install and maintenance. ... show more

    • Great replacement for 45W FSL Muse Core

I purchased a new Full Spectrum Laser Muse Core back in April '22 and paid for their upgraded 45W tube from the standard 40W for hobby use. Within 5 months, and less than 3 hours of actual laser use time (I have an ESP32 that counts the seconds the air assist is turned on to Home Assistant) the FSL tube died. I decided to give this a try and so far I am extremely happy that I did, although angry I paid extra for a piece of garbage FSL tube to begin with. I haven't even used this for 15 minutes yet, mostly all alignment and some test cuts for determining settings. This was almost a drop in replacement for the Muse tube. It does not have the same connector as the Muse, the red cover that they show in the picture is just a cover, not a plug for those that may be wondering. I did purchase a HV plug on Amazon along with the tube so that I wouldn't have to modify the HV line from the Muse power supply just in case it dies while under warranty. I did have to swap out the negative side though, but that was easy. The settings for the original "45W" FSL tube for cutting 1/8" clear acrylic was 30% speed, 100% power, 100% current. It would normally cut through, but if I had masking on both sides there would sometimes be a few fibers hanging on. I always felt that it was slower than the Glowforge Plus that I replaced with the Muse (GF power supply died after a little more than a year) even though the Muse was supposed to be higher power. With this Cloudray tube I can certainly say it feels at least as fast as the Glowforge since I can now cleanly cut the same 1/8" acrylic at 60% speed rather than 30% speed. Without masking on either side it was even fairly reliable at 70% speed. Now, it's impossible to say how long it will last, but they do at least give a brief warranty, which is more than I can say for FSL and their tubes. This looks like it is much better quality, and will hopefully last me for years. I didn't break out the calipers to measure the tube, it was supposed to be 50mm diameter. It does seem like the laser is a little further from the wall of the case so not as well centered on the first mirror as the original. I was still able to get it aligned though and am so far very happy with it. Otherwise I would have probably purchased aftermarket clamps to line it up better. ... show more
