We bought this for our son when he was one. He is now 16, and even though he stopped using "Moose", which is what he named the turtle as a toddler, years ago, it got used every night for years. It has been knocked off the bed many times, it's gone camping with us, it's been packed in luggage for trips, and it still works perfectly. The lights vary from dim amber, regular blue, and brightish green. The constellations are easy enough to find and it shuts off on its own. Battery life is very good. Confession time: "Moose" lives next to my bed now and sometimes if I wake up in the middle of the night I turn on the stars to help me fall asleep again. This is a simple, quality toy with no silly gimmicks like movement or music. It's durable. And it's super cute. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

I bought this same turtle light 15 years ago when my first son was born and he loved it as well as everyone else. When I saw it again while creating my recent baby registry I had to have it! It brightened my oldest son’s face seeing it and it’s been a great light in the bedroom for my new little addition. Gives off enough light so I can walk around and not stub my toe on furniture or disturb anyone. Three light settings/colors (we always go for blue). Fun picking out the constellations on the ceiling!

I had been eyeing these since we had our first child, who is now 5. His little brother, who is 2 1/2 has been suddenly having issues with going to bed - scared of monsters, ghosts, you name it. He started getting out of bed 2 - 3 times each night after we put him down, and not sleeping until 2 hours or more past his bedtime. I was going to get the turtle for him for Christmas, but decided we needed it now. And it has actually helped him stay in bed. The first night, we all lay and sat as a family in the boys' room and looked at the stars together. Now we put him in his bed, turn the turtle on, kiss him and that's that. It was between this and one of those Dream Lites, but those are made by the Pillow Pet people and seem so cheap in comparison. (I've had to fix stitching in Pillow Pets a few times, and the plush fabric on them is not the nicest.) Plus the Dream Lites only put stars straight up on the ceiling. This puts stars all over the room. If it's in the middle of the room, it will project stars on every wall and the ceiling. Our son's bed is by a wall, so it doesn't reach the far wall, but projects enough on 3 walls and the ceiling so that both boys can enjoy the stars. It turns itself off after 45 minutes - brilliant!! My husband likes that since he doesn't have to change batteries constantly. And you can change the color of the stars, although our guy always chooses blue, which he calls purple. I don't know why people complain about the hard shell, because if the shell were plush, um, the plush piling would block the stars. It's a beautiful product, excellent quality and now our 5 year old wants one too. I wouldn't hesitate to get this for my kid or another child. Oh, and I did mention it comes with a constellation guide for the star pattern it projects. Our boys love to point out Orion's belt! It's actually educational too - bonus!

I purchased this for my 2 grandbabies, one age 3 and the newest addition is 1 month old. My 3 year old granddaughter is afraid of the dark so thought this might make her feel better at bedtime, and might help soothe my grandson, who was a month old when I bought it. There are some negative reviews out there on this product and after reading one that said it was horrible right out of the bag <this review from someone who didn't even purchase it through Amazon!> I'm kind of shocked at the negatives I read. First of all, this is a NITE LITE!! It doesn't say TOY anywhere!! Even though this is adorable, it is meant to be a night light. If you let your children hold it snd play with it as if it were a toy - then it is YOUR fault if it didn't last long or broke - NOT the company who made it. PLEASE READ DESCRIPTIONS people!!!! I got the Mocha Turtle. Our turtle changes color at the touch of a button. NOWHERE In the description does it say the color changes automatically! I have no problem changing colors. I've put this Turtle in several different places in my grandchildrens room - in the babies crib <he was 1 month old>, on top of their dresser, and on the floor. Each place I've put this - the room transformed into a Starry Heaven! You can clearly see the different constellations. It stayed lit up for the entire 45 minutes as said it would and, shut off automatically so I never had to worry about the batteries running down. It is built very well - our turtle is over 2 months old and even with my "almost" 4 year old granddaughter holding it as she falls asleep - it still looks brand new. And no - we don't let her "play" with it - it's not intended to be a toy and she knows it is her nightlight. My 1 month old grandson loves to look at it when he goes in for a nap and to go night night. He stares at it as long as he's awake! It takes minutes to get both to sleep! This is a GREAT Nite Lite for Children, and yes even adults. I love to look at it! If you teach your children it's not a toy but a night light to help them sleep - you could have it for a long time. My grandkids LOVE this! I highly recommend this product!
