Purchased to put cat food on next to feeding bowl. Small enough to fit into space and large enough to accommodate small boxes of food. Very sturdy . Recommend using a small battery operated drill to use on the 8 screws that are needed to assemble it. Took 15 minutes to assemble!

I bought the larger ones many years back to solve the issue of my shoes taking over my closet - I think my shoes multiply when I am sleeping. : ) They lasted – and still look great after all these years. This time around I bought the shorter ones - this way - between the larger ones and these smaller ones side by side in my closet - I still had room in my closet for a section for my dresses to hang down to the floor too. Plus all my shoes are pretty tidy at this point too. Pretty easy to put together - although you have to use a bit of muscle to get the screws in tight with a manual scredriver. They also have a bit of weight to them as well – which I think is a good thing. My older ones have never sagged and the particle board is quite thick and sturdy. (One guy's review said he was disappointed when it broke when his friend sat on it - and another review warned not to let your children stand or play on these... I have no idea what some people are using these for - but they are MADE FOR STORAGE OF YOUR SHOES!?!?!? Oh - and another reviewer also exclaimed surprise that the box did not include a hammer and screwdriver – seriously? I guess his butler must have been off that day. : ) Some reviews here complain that the back of the finished product is not actually finished - just pressed board showing. I don't understand this complaint at all. If you have them in the closet against the wall - you can not see the backs at all. Even if you have them out in an open room - I would assume they will still be against a wall - so what is the problem? The only problem I have – as being a woman with high heels as well as flats – most heeled shoes – especially higher ones will not fit in the slots. Flats, sneakers, most sandals – great. Even for lower heals or maybe higher heels but in a sling back style or something – again no issue. For the higher heeled sturdier shoe – they just won’t fit. I wish they would make one “for the women” – it would be very helpful. Seriously – one that may be a bit higher just for the women would be GREAT! For now – my highest heels either sit on the closet floor next to the shelves – or I put them on the top of the units once stacked. Still a great product. And it is very helpful that they offer different widths as well – and different color finishes! ... show more

I used them for my (many) shoes. They look great and stacked well. I did insert the little "plugs" to stack two of them. Took me about 15 minutes to put together the first one then the other 2 went very fast. Mostly its just making sure the "pretty" side faces out. As these were put into a closet I did not feel the need to use the provided parts to attach them to a wall. Highly recommend. ... show more

After searching and searching for options for shoe storage, I finally opted for the ClosetMaid shelves. I bought two of the 31 inch selves and stacked them on the floor of my small closet. This was the best storage I have found for shoes after years and years of buying different shoe racks and being disappointed with shoes falling off, not fitting, or the cheap racks (which cost more than the shelves) folding up on me. These are sturdy, simple lines and held way more shoes that the previous rack(s). Because they are not as confined, I can cram in more of the off season shoes I rarely wear and still see them clearly, yet I have ample room for the quality shoes and shoe boxes to keep my better shoes easy to access without getting all messed up. The shelves abut to the back of the closet, so I don't have the problem of shoes falling off the back. I was so pleased with the result that I ran to a local discount store to get the same shelves for my boyfriends shoes. I wanted to surprise him when he got home, so I didn't take the time to order from Amazon. FYI, Amazon had the better price and I got the free shipping with Prime. He wears size 11 and his shoes fit nicely on the shelves. He was very pleased when he saw how neat the closet looked and how much easier it is for him to get his shoes off these racks without everything else falling off as well. I waited a number of months before posting this review to make sure I was still pleased with the shelves. We both are still very very happy with them and our closet is so much neater. These are the perfect size for my small closet. They are hefty for being so small. Very easy to put together. Came in original, unopened boxes. Doesn't show dirt. Can fit shoes under the shelf as well, so I can easily store 6 pairs of shoes. (No, I am not able to put three pairs on the shelf. I wear a size 8.5 and only two pairs of tennis shoes will comfortably fit on a shelf. I could probably squeeze a third pair in, but nah.) ... show more
