I had already purchased one of these about a year ago but my son was too young and didn't understand the concept of remote controlled cars. He kept trying to grab the car and move it around with his hands. This week I came across this car again for about 11 bucks and decided to purchase a second unit on a different color. The original one was black and green, the new one white and red. I love the styling and looks of these cars. I've charged up all 14 AA batteries and we went outside to have some fun with the cars on the sidewalk and our driveway. The new one lasted for about 30 minutes and then started malfunctioning. There's a loud grinding sound coming from the front axle. There's definitely something wrong with it. The battery life is okay but make sure you purchase high amperage rechargeable batteries. My recommendation is the Energizer 2300 mAh fast charging battery. I also recommend their ultra fast charger. It charges 4 AA batteries in less than 30 minutes. Fortunately, Amazon is in the process of sending me a new unit to exchange with my defective one. Five stars to Amazon's amazing customer service. You guys rock! Hopefully the new unit will last longer.

Car is very.. very slow. no torque can not handle grass. My kid lost interest pretty quickly. I ended up hooking up a 12v drill battery to it and BAM became a rocket.. kids loved it. It would zip across the lawn lasted what seemed forever. BUT eventually motor blew out from the extra power which I figured would but it was worth it. Stock its pretty lame maybe its fine for really young child just trying to learn RC but my 4yr and 6yr old got bored of these within 15min until i added 12v batt

We got two of these. One works just fine and deserved a 5 star review for the price so I'm splitting the rating down the middle. The other one didn't work correctly out of the box. It would lose power to the wheels for propulsion (although power would still be available to turn left/right) every few minutes and then come back. It got worse over a couple hours of playing so it became basically useless. I did make sure we didn't have interference from the other car. The seller didn't respond within 2 business days for suggestions on how to fix it so we are returning it.

I bought two RC cars for a Christmas Party game. We raced the two cars against each other for prizes. (Red & Green) We were disappointed in the quality of the cars because one of the cars was considerably slower than the other. Two brand new cars, with brand new batteries, did not RUN the same. The RED car was a beast! But the GREEN car was a loser.

I've got to admit, my four year old has had this car for almost an ENTIRE YEAR so far! I can't believe it hasn't fallen apart yet. He is pretty rough on it too. The controls are easy enough for him to navigate on his own. I've also been surprised at how well it does in the dirt, grass, and small rocky terrain. The only downside is how easily the rubber wheels can pop off. We often find them lying around the house and it's super annoying having to put them back on so often. Overall, we are very happy about the quality of the product.

What a great surprise this was for my 8 year-old. After he went bashing and crashing through two others of these kind of toys, we had given up on finding a better quality one. This one, however, makes the cut. It has been outside in the snow, inside, down stairs, etc, and it's still going. And the controller has the right commands for his age (not too many) and hand size (not that big), so he can really control it well on his own. He's especially enjoying practicing backing-in parking under all the chairs - that kind of effort will surely impress the DMV in another 8 years.

This is probably a bit different of a review for a different audience, but my students needed an RC chassis for a project and I got this one on a whim. It was easy to take apart and its controller scheme is very easy to hack...within an hour my students were able to have a raspberry pi controlling left-right and forward-backward with excellent control. The controller uses four contact buttons for directions (there are no potentiometers on the inside), but they found driving these inputs with PWM signals from the Pi worked really well and gave better control than the native controller did.

This little car is awesome for the price. Only thing is it didn’t come with rechargeable battery which I thought it did. So have to run on 4 AA. The 4 wheel drive works great and it’s pretty fast with new batteries. Easy for my 4 year old to control with the style remote.
