It has a small lip in the corners to help against straight on drops, though it's not aiming to be an OtterBox or anything like that. The kickstand is great! I had mine for 1 year before the edge starting coming apart (see pics). I really liked the kickstand and the clear case so I ordered another one. For the money, its a nice case and I would recommend it. Kickstand is really nice to have for reading or watching videos.
