  • Best Resin Yet!
Size: 16 Ounce
TL;DR: Best out of 6 different resin brands I tried, super long work time, 40 MINUTES no joke! Cures glass clear, plays well w/pigment, alch ink, paint, mica. “Let’s Resin” molds don’t play well w/Art N Glow, pieces stick, mold tears. NEED mold release spray, I use Castin Craft, then everything is right in the resin world again. (not resin/user error, only L.R. Molds. Read below for in depth explanation.) This is by far the BEST resin I’ve worked with. I was buying resin in smaller bottles to see which I liked the best, Art ‘N Glow was the sixth resin brand I bought & it’s the last. Long work time 40 mins after it’s mixed it’s still pourable & bubbles are almost nonexistent. When there are, they pop easily w/a touch of heat. Takes mica, alcohol ink, pigment & acrylic paints great & mixes easily. Mentioning it’s ease of pigments/paint cause other resin I bought, like Unicone Art did not, it took pigment but a few like green & black made resin have a weird reaction, it gelled instantly. Art N Glow works well w/an array of molds found on Amazon, but if it’s Let’s Resin Molds, I have to use mold release spray by Castin Craft (Hobby Lobby had best price). For some reason it’s only that particular brand, Lets Resins’ molds it sticks to after cured. No, it’s not user error, I’ll have 4-5 molds set out, pour my resin & next day, all but that particular brands mold come out with ease. It’s not the resin cause as mentioned I’ve tried many others. To be perfectly honest, I have yet to find a fault with this resin. I hope my review is thorough & perhaps helps someone. I’ll try my best to answer any questions submitted through Amazon up above the reviews section. ... show more

  • Great product - easy to use - does what they say
Size: 32 Ounce
This is the first time I have dabbled with clear resin casting/coating so I don't have a good reference to compare this product to others. However, my experience with this product has been very positive. I read some of the materials on how to use it and mixed a small batch to try on a few things just to see how well it works. From the one batch I mixed I used it on 4 different "pours." The primary project (a small square of wood with masking tape around the sides to form a cavity and tiny sea shells on the wood to be covered) seems to have worked fairly well (only 24 hours have passed). The resin mix appeared to soak into the wood a bit but the masking tape was easy to remove from around the edges after about 12 hours after mixing. I suspect I did not mix for a long enough time so the item I poured last seems to have tacky edges after 24 hours (temperature during the cure time was in excess of 80 degrees - it is hot in the southwest!). This may have been due to material at the bottom of the plastic mixing cup being primarily resin and not hardener due to inadequate mixing. I like the 50/50 mix approach, makes it easy to figure amount to mix. The material is, indeed, very clear after the pour (and after 24 hours). Bubbles were not a problem and could be "popped" soon after the pour (all the sea shells were positioned with the cavity side down and for some of them air was trapped under the shell and eventually "bubbled" out under the edge of the shell). I can't see any bubbles in the final product. I have more experimenting to do but I am very happy with this material and how it works. ... show more

  • Proper ventilation a must
Size: 16 Ounce
I've never done anything with resin before, but now seemed like a good enough time to try it out. I went ahead and gave it a go and this kit was relatively straightforward. I bought some pretty standard silicon molds from elsewhere on Amazon, just flat coasters and ornaments and tried out a few different applications and methods. This is about as many as I could make with the resin contained in this batch. (minus the pink and white one on the far left/top -- that is made with white Elmers glue, which is an inefficient method). All in all, I made 13 total coasters/ornaments, which is a decent amount. The quality of the resin seems fine, but you really do need to mix them for a decent amount of time to make sure that they properly set. I used wooden chopsticks and condiment cups from jello shots, which seemed to do the trick-- though I know some of the silicon mold kits come with mixing tools. For me, the two biggest takeaways were that a heat gun was a weirdly necessary tool. I already have one for heat shrinking electronics, but it helps to get rid of excess air bubbles and to get a nicer glossier finish and it's kind of a must? My quality on my casts got substantially better when I used it. The other is that this stuff is just about the most toxic substance I've worked with outside of spray insulation; when it says that you should wear gloves and a mask, it's really not kidding around. The fumes on this thing are pretty intense. Luckily one of the only perks of 2020 is that I have masks-a-plenty and a bunch of nitrile gloves, but without that, this hobby would have been super toxic. Just something to keep in mind. The first few prints are definitely the worst! I think it's still a good beginner hobby, something to learn on, and there's a lot of fun different things to play with and put in it. This kit was a decent entryway into it. ... show more
