On first glance this looks like someone took a bunch of different tool sets from different manufacturers and combined them all into one pack- and that may actually be the case, who knows? It certainly seems a little redundant to have the large balls on the black plastic tool set when you already have large balls on the blue handled metal set, right? But a little redundancy isn't always a bad thing. That said, I will say that the plastic tools to have seams from their molding process, which may limit some of their usefulness in certain applications. The tools I used most on the little test project I've pictured here were the wooden tool with the wires, the wooden stake/spike, and the wooden-handled tools with the tiny metal balls/heads. That said, the silicone-headed tools intrigue me and I while I didn't use them a lot on this project, I imagine I'll have more uses for them elsewhere. And admittedly, I primarily used the spear-shaped plastic tool for the scales on the tail. Overall I'd say this is a great variety starter pack for anyone interested in getting started sculpting. DO NOT underestimate the usefulness of the little ball-point tools, they are totally awesome, and so is a spike of some sort. In my case I'm mostly interested in miniatures and so probably won't make much use of the larger blue-handled tools, but who knows? One thing I will mention though is that the bag this set comes with barely holds all the tools, so I'd recommend preparing alternative storage options. Honestly if you're clever, have some stuff lying around, and like being a bit inventive you could probably improvise a lot of your own tools (such as using toothpicks and chopsticks. I've also made use of metal coffee stirrers with different shaped heads, the tip of a ballpoint pen that had run out of ink, and sewing needles). But if you don't have time for that or don't want to take the trouble, this is a good alternative that I'm personally mostly pleased with and would recommend for anyone interested in sculpting due to its variety and versatility. If you were just getting into clay work, or pottery, this is a great set of tools to let you know what you were going to need during this journey. Most of these tools aren’t going to last you for years, but this let you discover what tools you will use regularly and which ones are just there for show. This also let you see how some tools are going to shape what you’re doing. I recommend this said highly if you were just kidding into it. Because if you’re going to be a slip person or a free handed modeler, you will need different tools. This gives you a chance to explore at a great price. This will make a great gift for a beginner or for someone you know who’s thinking about getting into it without breaking the bank. ... show more

This is all the tools I've ever wanted for sculpting and then some! I knew this had a lot of good tools when I ordered it but handling the package I was amazed all over again! Everything in it so far has been very solid and sturdy and works really well! The whole package comes with a small felt zip up bag and it all fits comfortably inside. This little clay sculpting took kit is the perfect size for taking to my sculpture class to use as a sample and example for my students to show them the bare minimum that you'd want to have for taking on clay sculpting projects. There are some really wonderful tools in this kit for whatever type of sculpting project you have going on. I teach sculpting using polymer clay and these tools seem to do perfectly well handling the polymer clays, no matter what brand I tend to use. ... show more

These clay sculpting tools give you just about everything you need to do clay art modelling to whatever extent you may wish! Everything is fairly sturdy and holds up well to regular use and, while I haven't had the opportunity to use every last tool, the ones I have used make it much easier to control the outcome of projects. I know nothing about sculpting or working with clay, but my daughter has been playing with different types of clay and trying out new things she's learning on YouTube and some of the videos showed sculpting. As I said, not knowing anything about it I came across this huge set with various tools and thought to give it a try. Anyways, my daughter said it has more tools than she knows to do with but she was able to use a handful through her videos and said they worked well for her. From my perspective it's a great set for beginners as it has lots of different tools and the set can grow with her as she learns new tools and techniques. And while I can't speak to their quality from the eyes of a professional, at this price point it's definitely a great value. ... show more
