  • Works well for working from home. You need to watch your USB Hub Count
Style: 4x1 4K 60Hz USB 3.0
This KVM seems to be working very well with my 2021 M1 Pro MacBook Pro personal computer and Windows 10 work computer. One of the problems I ran into was USB hub count. The USB standard only allows for hubs five levels/layers deep. This hub adds a couple of hub layers when using USB 2.x devices. With my Thunderbolt dock for my Windows computer (HP G4 Thunderbolt 280w), this wasn't an issue because the KVM was plugged into the Thunderbolt dock (dock USB Controller -> Dock USB Hub -> KVM Hub (USB 3.0 port) -> KVM Hub (USB 2.x Ports)). When you use a USB 2.x device in the USB 3.x ports you get another layer. With my MacBook, I am using a USB-C dock (HP G5 USB-C) rather than Thunderbolt dock. With this, I had too many layers of USB hubs in the chain than things plugged into the last layers didn't work. I had to plug the USB port directly into the MacBook rather than the dock so that I wouldn't go too deep with USB layers. I only want to plug on thing into my MacBook to run it so I am going to have to get a Thunderbolt dock for the MacBook as well. I have to admit, to get the webcam and cordless headset with 2.4 Ghz dongle to work, it was a lot of trial and error. Eventually I found a configuration that works on both computers and gets picked up on switch. Your mileage my vary so good luck with that. ... show more

  • Worked great for 21 months
Style: 4x1 4K 60Hz USB 2.0
This KVM switch worked great for about 21 months, until one of the USB ports on the back went bad so that I could no longer share both a keyboard and a mouse between computers. That makes the switch useless. Pros: Video and USB switching worked well and switched quickly when you pressed a button to switch. Multi-cables made it easier to route only one big multi-cable per computer instead of 2 or 3 smaller cables per computer. Square enclosure makes it easy to mount. Cons: Proprietary multi-cables mean if a cable dies it's a pain to replace. ... show more

  • Seems to work well
Style: 2x1 4K 60Hz USB 2.0
I am connecting the CKLau-62Hua (2 port, single monitor, USB hub on front) KVM to a Linux Mint desktop and a MSI Laptop. When I initially plug it into the computers, I did not have a problem with the Linux computer but the Windows 10 laptop displayed an error (Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43 )) in the Device Driver Manager every time I plugged in the KVM. After working with the CKLau tech support and trying many things. I decided to plug a USB memory stick into the USB 2.0 port on the front of the KVM. The laptop recognized the memory stick and my driver error went away. I posted this in case someone ran into the same issue because the tech support was not very helpful. The unit seems to work well now. I am okay with the beep every time it switches computers. I do not use the buttons on the front of the unit for switching or the hot keys. I will update this review if I run into problems down the road. ... show more

  • Works most of the time.
Style: 4x1 4K 60Hz USB 3.0
Sometimes the computers decide to ignore that they're connected, and you've got to unplug and replug the usb to wake it up. It mostly works though. (EDIT) I found out how to disable the noise / beep when changing screens. Make sure the "hot key" light is on (button on front of your switch), press these quickly and in this sequence (not holding them down, tapping them): CTL (the one on the right side of keyboard), then the letter B, then enter. (so, it's CTL, CTL, B, Enter)... I was trying to hold them down because the instructions were unclear to me, but it's just tap tap taparoo. Just tap it in. Taaaap it in. Tap tap tappy. ... show more

  • Works, but it can be tricky…
Style: 4x1 4K 60Hz USB 2.0
Right now I have this KVM switch operating smoothly and playing nice with 2 PCs and a Mac. But I have had several episodes where I thought it was fried and had to power it all down. With all the devices and hubs, it’s hard to know what to blame; I suspect at least one bad cable. I use it for video and USB 2 keyboard and mouse. I have not used it for audio in either direction. The HDMI monitor has audio that works through the HDMI, without its own hookup. But all three machines have USB-C, so each one needs a dongle/adapter to get to HDMI and USB 2. I have a USB C external drive that can plug into any of the dongles, but on at least one of them, it takes the whole system down if I do. Nothing works. I suspect it’s a power issue, and I do have the KVM switch’s USB power connected to a strong source. And I’ve gotten the “too many USB hubs” complaint from one of the machines when I tried hooking it up through USB 2. Note that the machine with only the dongle can handle it, so it is interaction with the KVM switch that blanks everything out. And that’s odd, because the data isn’t going through the switch or through HDMI. As a workaround, I can plug the drive directly into the machine’s USB C port, running on battery power. So, my 4-star is for it working, but not for doing everything I’d like it to, and for being a little bit wonky at times until everything settles out. Still not bad for the money, though. ... show more
