Citizen makes a great watch! PROS: It is an excellent value for a dress watch. I have a 6 1/2" wrist circumference and the 39mm case diameter is perfect. I appreciate the luminous dial and nice leather strap. The calendar window is not large but readable by these tired eyes. Looks much more expensive than than the price! Reasonably thin case and appears proportional to the diameter. CONS It does not have a sapphire crystal so I purchased a clear protective screen and see if that helps. My everyday watch is in the shop so I'm not sure how often I will wear this one as the jury is out on its ruggedness. Beautiful watch. Simple, accurate, lightweight. Boxing was rather unimpressive, but I didn’t purchase it for the box. The band is stiff, as others have said, but I expect that to loosen up with wear. This is it--a gorgeous, well-made watch with beautiful dark brown leather band that keeps absolutely perfect time as measured against an atomic self-setting wall clock. Citizen is a well regarded Japanese brand, too--maybe not as flashy/high end as Seiko, but good. So why 4 stars? Simple. The "date" window is ridiculously small and almost impossible to read, which also makes setting it a pain. This is not the first Citizen watch I’ve had. The other one looked fancier and was an ecodrive, but as a result it was large, expensive and bulky. I actually prefer the thinness and lightness of this watch. It has a clean and elegant appearance, well suited for formal wear. And of course, it is a Citizen watch, with all its legendary quality and prestige. Back in the 90’s I made an acquaintance of a watch store owner in England. That guy could wear any watch he wanted. You might want to note that even though the watch hands have what looks like a coating that would ever so slightly glow in the dark so you could read time if you woke up in the middle of the night, it is not so.
