This is a nice watch, but with a few drawbacks. Bracelet looks great, but difficult to adjust. Link pins have very tiny sleeves that tighten the pins inside each link and are easy to lose. Would recommend taking the watch to a competent jeweler for this adjustment. There are lots of functions to handle with many steps for final activation of each feature. I adjusted the links and setup myself, but it was a frustrating lesson in patience. Nevertheless, despite these negative observations, I LIKE this watch now that it's operational and on my 6.8 inch wrist. It's got a titanium case with a hard, super 5 titanium bracelet. Lighter than a similar stainless steel watch, it's comfortable on my flat-topped, compact wrist. Easily readable, nearly unscratchable, very accurate, and non-allergenic, there's not much for you to do to keep it ticking away. Reasonably priced. ... show more

    • A step up from the Stainless Steel Model - Great Watch

It seems many have gotten the functions of this watch confused with the AT4008-51E, which is the older Stainless Steel Version of this watch with an E650 movement. Before I review this watch (CB5908-57E), let me briefly differentiate between the S.S. AT4008 and the STi CB5908. I have had the Stainless Steel Model (AT4008-51E) of this watch for several years, and I have been very pleased with it. Now some quick comparisons between the Stainless Steel and the Super Titanium watches. The AT4008 is Stainless Steel, weighs 6.05 ounces, and has a red-mode hand mine with an E650 movement. The CB5908 is Super Titanium, weighs 3.90 ounces, has a blue-mode hand, and has the E660 movement. This makes the Titanium 36% lighter. Note that the Titanium has an extra link vs the Stainless Steel, yet still weighs less. If the number of links were the same, it would most likely weigh 40% less. The AT4008 has the city codes inside the mode section of the watch. The CB5008 has them on the outside of the bezel and has many more selections. Both have WR200 or 666 feet of water resistance. Size-wise, they are identical. Many will say that this watch feels cheap because of its weight. This is supposed to be lighter as it is Super Titanium. If you are used to an E650 movement, this watch will take some time. However, it is not hard and easier as the E660 movement is an upgrade from the E650. You can download the appreciated and the full PDF instruction manual from Citizen. The first thing you want to do is check the CHARGE of the watch. It should be okay, but if it is not pointing toward the upper charge level, most definitely charge it before doing anything with the watch. To check the charge. If the mode hand is NOT already set to [TME] on the mode hand, do the following. 1. Pull the crown out to position 1 2. Rotate the crown to move the mode hand to point to [TME] - (there are two of them, and it doesn't matter which one you point to. 3. Push the crown back to position 0 4. Press and release the lower right button (A) 5. If your watch has the mode hand pointing to [TME], press the lower (A) button without doing steps 1-4. The button is located at the top right section where the days of the week are located. The had will move to a graph, and it should be towards the top of the graph. If not, charge it first. Note that the instructions are redundant and ask you to pull the crown out and move the mode hand to TME. If you have already done that, there is no need to keep doing it, as you can press the A or B button to advance to the next step. Your watch should arrive with the correct date and Leap year already set in memory. If it is, you can skip a lot of the setup instructions. If not, follow the instructions to set up the leap year located on page three of the abbreviated instructions. If you buy this watch, use the instructions for the E660 movement and pay attention to the TME settings in the mode section. There are two of each setting, ALM, CHR, SET, and TME, on the watch. It doesn't matter which TME, SET, CHR, or ALM you are on, as they both work the same; they are there for symmetry, and should the minute or hour hand be in the way when setting or changing the watch. If the date is correct on the watch and you are in a time zone that allows a signal to the Atomic Clock, don't worry about setting the time. Just ensure you have selected the correct Time Zone and DTS is either ON or OFF, depending on your location. Put your watch in a window facing towards Ft. Collins, CO, and in the morning, your watch should have the exact time to the second. Now, more about the watch. It is light, and I don't even realize I'm wearing it. It seems to be cooler than the Stainless Steel brother. It can go from casual to dress without missing a beat. With its anti-glare sapphire crystal, you don't have to be overly cautious about scratches, and unlike other titanium watch bands, this one does not appear to scratch too easily. Citizen has infused the band with a process that makes it much more scratch-resistant. Take it from a guy who likes watches. This one will make it into my rotation at least twice per week. It's a great watch with great features. Now, I don't use a few things, but if I did, it would be a bit of a letdown. The Alarm feature is way too quiet. Don't plan on it waking you up unless you sleep with your arm under your head. It works, but it just isn't very loud. I wish it had a magnifier over the date. I have to look too long to see the date, which comes with age. Other than these two things, this watch is great. It is the perfect size for me. Stats Age 61 Height 6'1" Weight 235 I like this size; if you are much bigger or much smaller, it may not be the watch for you. BTW if you need more links, you can contact Citizen, and they will send you two links free of charge. ... show more

This is a beautiful and feature laden watch. It has heft to it. It has all the features you would expect. Good water resistance. Sapphire crystal. It is fully adjustable and comfortable. "Luxury" is an apt description. It has one drawback: to me the set-up is very difficult. The manual and the learning curve to fully use this timepiece is quite long. I had to download the manual to my desktop so I could enlarge the tiny text for me failing eyesight and use a magnifier for some of the small details on the watch face. That said, there is good news in this regard and that is one of the major reasons I purchased it. (That, and previous Citizen watches I have owned.) You should just set it up ONCE. A solar battery keeps it charged, a perpetual calendar keeps track of the date for the rest of your life, and atomic timekeeping means your watch in all likelihood will keep EXACT time - which is kind of important for a watch. If it is left in the dark often, you can buy a small LED watch charger for occasional use, but most people will never need that. If you need to check the battery charge or direct the watch to connect to the atomic clock manually, you can. This is a functional work of art. I don't give 5 stars often. This one is an easy choice. READ THIS IF YOU CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO SET YOUR WATCH: This is a model E660 NOT the E650 which is featured in most videos on the internet. The only difference is on the E660 the time zones are on the outer bezel instead of the inner function dial. This may seem like a minor thing, but it completely changes how the watch is set. Trust me and search for the model E660 directions which are on the Citizen website and as of the date of posting this review there were a few videos online as well. NOW ON TO THE REVIEW! Got this watch during Prime Days for about half the list price and am extremely happy with the purchase. Other than a minor, time wasting, frustrating hour or two figuring out how to set the watch properly I've got to say it is well worth the money. At 42mm the case fits nicely on a small to mid size wrist. It is smaller looking then it appears in the pictures and even online reviews which was fine by me. Just note this if you have larger wrists, this watch might look "funny" on your arm. It has a nice heft to it, but not too much. Not sure what the reviewers who were complaining about it usually wear. It is lighter than some of my other 42-44mm chrono style watches. Doesn't feel heavy when on and is nicely balanced. Case is well polished and the two tone coloring gives it a slightly different, dressier edge than other models. I don't think I would wear this with a suit, but if this was your only watch it wouldn't look out of place. Has tons of cool functions like the perpetual calendar and automatic setting to atomic clock radio signal. This is really a "set it and forget it" kind of watch. Eco-drive is nice too as there will never be a battery change needed. Just make sure you leave it in the sunlight or at least under a lamp for a few days after it arrives. Mine had a decent charge already but I want to "top it off" before putting it into regular rotation. If you leave this in your dark watch box for months on end though it is going to die. But, hey, it is a great watch so you ought to be wearing it on a regular basis anyhow. The chrono function is also only OK. The minute dial is so small it is impossible to see which hash it is on accurately. Fine if you are timing something for up to 60 seconds or you don't mind counting the minutes yourself. Seriously though, how many times do you really use that chrono function? Like three times ever, right? I would just think the fine people at Citizen would have addressed this obvious flaw seeing this particular model of watch has been in their catalog for almost a decade and this is the recently updated one. One minor complaint though. I had to take out every single available link in it and even then it barely was enough to fit my wrist. If you have very narrow wrists you may be out of luck. Also, haven't been able to get the watch to sync with the local radio broadcast. I'll try to position it according to the instructions for a few nights and see if it finally communicates. If not, though it appears to be accurate enough. The biggest question though: is this watch worth the list price if Amazon (or elsewhere) does not have it discounted? On that, I would say generally "no" in that I prefer other watch makers in this price range, but that is just my personal preference. If you can find this for around $400 either here or somewhere else though, I would say buy it. ... show more

This could be a decent watch if you like spending over $450 to buy something brand new and receive something used, or if you like pins just falling out of the links so you can drop your watch and lose it somewhere. I think the person who once owned my watch, took a link out, and before they returned it, put the link back in and used the wrong pins. They weren't cotter pins that fell out. Not sure if thats what the rest of the pins are or if they are supposed to be, but im assuming thats the case. The watch had NO plastic around the strap and NO round plastic on the front crystal or back, like watches usually have, and its satisfying peeling it off. Even my cheap -$100 watches have that. Also the tag was not on the watch bracelet. It was just cut and thrown into the box. Its sad, because i ordered a seiko coutura 3 days ago, and that came used as well, but i just excepted it and kept it. I probably would have just excepted this used watch too, until the cotter pins just fell out, and that was enough for me to say, screw this. The PROS. The watch is beautiful and very light weight, being its titanium, but does feel kind of cheap because of that. It feels like some cheap $50 watches I own. Buttons do feel nice and have a nice click when pushing them in. The CONS. Besides feeling cheap, which is not the watches fault, it does struggle to connect to the radio signal. I did everything the manual said to do for the best results, but still took a few long tries, and when it finally connected, it was a minute off. Im sure that can be fixed. I'll update my review with more info once I send this one back and actually receive my NEW watch and wear it for a few days. It then, it only gets one star cause im super upset. It seems like it would get 5 stars if it was atleast brand new. I can deal with the minor cons it had. So in conclusion, as long as you receive a new watch like you paid for, it should be a great watch to own, but i will warn you, they are not easy to use. You MUST read the manual, which it may or may not come with. Mine didn't come with one, but that might be just because it was used as well. Not sure if they're supposed to come with a manual or not. This is a great watch. It's my second Citizen PCAT style watch, and third Citizen with the E660 movement. Literally a set it and forget it watch. Especially if you can get the Atomic Clock signal from Fort Collins, Colorado. Also, if you're looking for the best instructions on how to set this watch or any other Citizen watch with an E660 movement, I have to shout out the YouTube channel: Realm of Watches. They have a video posted 4 February 2021 called: "How To Set The Time On The New E660 Movement Citizen Eco-Drive Watch CB5896-03X". I've used this same video to set all three of my E660 movement watches, and this video makes it super easy. Also, it not only walks you through setting the time, the 8:14 minute video takes you through choosing your city for your time zone, setting the time, switching daylight savings time on/off, the date, the day of the week, the month, and the year but based on how far we are from the last leap year (the video will explain it in detail). I couldn't imagine using the manual to try and figure out all those settings. Just search for this video and you'll be set for any Citizen E660 movement watch. ... show more

I am very satisfied with my purchase. The sub $500 CHRONO you never have to wind or put in a storage winder to keep it running. I have a 6.5 inch wrist and the 42 mm case and lug to lug 48 mm is right on the edge for me. I needed to remove 3.5 links to make it fit. There are several best practices to follow in order to push the pins out and reinstalling them. The pins are held in with a compression coupling/ring that is about 3mm long. I had to use my pin removal tool and tweezers to reinstall the pin and coupling. Be mindful when removing the pin as the compression coupling may get stuck and fall out somewhere you may not like or find. I really appreciate the finish on this watch and bracelet. Being titanium I also like how light it is. I own several titanium watches and this is one I will wear daily. ... show more

I should start with the fact that I always wanted one of these watches. Caution for buying on amazon though because the one I received appeared to have been refurbished, had no instructions manual, and getting it set took about an hour with help from AI. I think the watch seems durable and doesn’t feel cheap despite the light weight titanium band and case. The watch sits nicely on my 9” wrist after removing 1 link. The watch works perfectly and I left it sit on the windowsill for a day before wearing it. It has kept perfect time with my phone since setting the watch about 20 days ago. The luminous markings glow well for most of the night and stays readable. For the purchase experience I personally would wait for it to go on sale before buying it here because my experience with the purchase was less than satisfying. This is a 5 star watch new from the manufacturer and has a sophisticated look. Every review and unboxing I saw had a user manual and warranty card. So please correct me if I am wrong but that’s a minimum standard and setting the time on your new $450 watch shouldn’t require a google search and AI chat.
