Description

We set out to create the RIDGE because like you, we were frustrated by the level of compromise in the eyewear industry. As outdoorsmen who regularly use and abuse gear in our pursuits, we were unable to find durable honestly priced sunglasses built to last, so we created our own. We cut out the artificial retail markups through our direct to consumer model to offer world class sunglasses at a radically fair cost. The RIDGE was inspired by the rugged unforgiving nature of the the Alps mountain ridge. Purpose built for performance and protection, the RIDGE subtly packs unmatched durability, high-impact rated eye protection, razor sharp optics and its craftsmanship is backed for Life. The RIDGE's memory nylon frame and 110° hinge system provide extraordinary durability. The high-wrap design rests perfectly on your face and the anti-slip rubber nose pads make for a fit so comfortable, you'll forget you're wearing them. Our RAZR lens technology will change the way you see the world with vivid color amplification, enhanced color contrast and improved depth perception. The high-impact shatterproof lenses provide crystal clear optical clarity with anti-scratch and anti-reflective coatings for a difference you can see. The RIDGE makes no compromises with razor sharp optical clarity, extreme durability and protection with an exceptionally comfortable close-style fit making it the best pair of sunglasses for your next adventure. Whether you’re exploring the back-country, hiking harsh mountain ridges, traversing the globe in search of new adventures, or battling bass, you can live life on your own terms knowing your ultra-durable STNGR gear can be depended on every step of the way. To date we've helped over 45,000 adventurers challenge the status quo in pursuit of becoming the best versions of themselves. See for yourself why so many have trusted us with the last pair of sunglasses they'll ever need! Founded by Ernest and Philip in 2016 out of a garage in Allen, Texas, STNGR was born out of a desire for more. We felt forced into paying for expensive outdoor gear because cheaper alternatives are not reliable. So we created dependable, ultra-durable gear, sold direct-to-consumer at a radically fair value so that the average adventure seeker could enjoy the outdoors more safely and comfortably. We believe strongly in doing things the right way, not the cheapest way. If we wouldn’t use the gear ourselves - you won’t ever see it. Unlike large multinational-corporations whose focus is cutting corners to maximize profit at every step, our focus is on helping you to more comfortably enjoy the outdoors and keep you safe when it matters most. As an independent family run business, we serve you - the individual, not the shareholders.

  • Awesome fitting and great looking glasses Awesome fitting and great looking glasses
Lens Color: Green Mirror
I’ve been a fan of other glasses for a long time, and was willing to pay so much more than these. These are 100 times more comfortable, they fit better than any other glasses I’ve worn. I’ve worn a lot between the military, construction, and hiking. I’m also a fan that this is a family business. You get a glasses case, a pair of keepers that have long enough rubber sleeves to last and hold glasses from falling off, and a cinch to tighten the keeper strap as you see fit. There’s also a soft lens wiping cloth. Even without any of those well-thought out extras (which I wasn’t even aware were included), I would’ve still been happy with the quality and fit. ... show more

  • Perfect for pickleball in the SE (and likely elsewhere, too)
Lens Color: Smoke
I have never spent $95 for a pair of sunglasses, to be honest. But I did. And I'm glad I did. (Of course, maybe I am biased now. Anyway....) When us old sods (men and women) play pickleball and we want to wear sunglasses, what do we need? Well, let's see: 1) we need to worry about safety for our eyes and orbital bones (so we need unbreakable lenses that at least are scratch resistant); 2) true vision and light transmission because we already have compromised eyeballs and stuff; 3) protection from ultraviolet rays because of our aged lenses and corneas and retinas); 4) solid frames that won't break if struck by a paddle or ball (it happens, probably by accident, but old people get angry when losing); and, 5) sun glasses that stay put when you are sweating, whether naturally or because of meds that you're taking. It also help to look very cool and sort of Cary-Grant-ly, just in case you are being scoped out by somebody who is also on Medicare but is still mobile. That's my list. I've had the cheap sun glasses - at least 5 pairs. You know the ones - $25 or so on Amazon, maybe Sam's. They break, they loosen and slip, they no longer attract the babes (neither does your gut, I suppose, or your poor, ummm, control). I had had enough. I was ready for the plunge. So I waited until my Social Security check cleared (our governor told us to trust nobody, except him). I did my research. I bought my STNGER Ridge sunglasses. Perfect. That's all I can say. They don't shake loose. They block light coming in from the side (maybe reflected by your partner's new bridgework because all he does is smile now to show his new teeth). They have absolutely glare-free, true sight, high fidelity vision. There is a sense of solidity and protection. (I know it's in my mind, but I feel safer). My eyes are now one less thing to worry about on the pickle ball court. And I don't do well with worry at my age any more. By the way, the fit is just right for my 7 3/4 head size. So, if you are thinking about a pair of STNGRs to play ball, you don't need to look any further. I don't think you will regret it. And the babes will crowd around you, too! Pass the Vitalis, momma, I'm hot to dink. ... show more

  • I love 'em
Lens Color: Smoke
Big reason I bought these is because they are ballistic rated, I can wear them in uniform, and they were cheaper then most Oakley's. I say most, but the cheaper Oakleys I could find aren't technically "military-authorized wear" do to stupid colored logos. These are fantastic though, and I am so happy I found them. I have dropped these so many times I've lost count, and they only have a small scratch due to one of my soldiers stepping on them. That is the only damage. They had a 190lb, 5'11" soldier in combat boots step on them, face down, and they only received a scratch smaller then a pencil tip. They are VERY tough. And they are super comfortable. Sun wise, I couldn't take these off while we were in California because they have a perfect tint. I've even tested these when it's dark, comparing to Oakleys that another soldier had, and you could see better in both day and night woth these. I've bought two pairs, one for me, and immediately after for my best friend because I love these so much. ... show more

  • Great lenses with a finicky fit
Lens Color: Red Mirror
I waited almost 8 months to review these and have been wearing them pretty much every single day! If you are reading this then you know all about the ballistic rating, nearly indestructible frames, etc. so I won't go into those in this review. First the "cons": These come in basically two sizes, the "Ridge", meant for larger heads, and the "Alpine", meant for medium (normal?) sized noggins. I bought one pair of each as I think I have a head that is of the larger size but just wasn't sure. Here is what I've found: The larger "Ridge" was almost too large for my head! The only thing that keeps them on when I'm moving around is the rubber tips of the lanyard rope thing. The smaller "Alpine" feel almost too small! ALL STNGR sunglasses should have more adjustability, in both the nose piece and perhaps the frames, or at least the arms near the temples. Maybe a middle size would be "just right"? I wear both on a regular basis. While they are moderately stealth/stylish, there isn't really any variation in the line. These are function before fashion and some customers may be thrown off by this. Not the best looking sunglasses I've ever purchased but they do the job they were designed for. Now the PROS! I work in heavy construction and eye safety isn't just important, it's company policy. I do use these for shooting at the range as well but the most common hazard I encounter is high speed rock chips. They've also been hit with blowing sand, dust and salt water spray and while I try to at least keep a clean micro fiber on hand, I'll confess, when I'm busy it's often my less than clean cotton t-shirt that I use to wipe the lenses when I'm on the go. Most other sunglasses I've purchased over the years show very visible wear after six months of this abuse but these STNGR have THE BEST "scratch resistant" finish I've ever used! Day after day of fogging them up with my breath and wiping them off with a dirty shirt and there isn't a single serious scratch anywhere on either pair! Maybe just a little very light hazing of micro scratches but nearly undetectable with the unaided eye and certainly nothing that I notice when I'm wearing them. Top THAT off with the fact that you can purchase JUST the replacement lenses for like half the price of the full frames! Very crisp vision with these, and they ARE truly polarized (my cheap cell phone insists on me taking them off when I'm looking at something in wide screen because of this). Tint is just dark enough without being too dark for partially cloudy days. Honestly, I was very tempted to give these a solid 5.0 stars but the lack of a truly comfortable fit, between both sizes, makes these slightly less than perfect in my book. 4.5 stars? ... show more

  • Buyers with larger head sizes find the sizing options especially helpful.
Lens Color: Red Mirror
Customers consistently praise these STNGR sunglasses for their exceptional comfort, secure fit, and high-quality construction—often preferring them over much more expensive brands. Reviewers highlight the thoughtful extras included (case, keepers, strap cinch, and cleaning cloth) and appreciate the family-owned business behind the product. Many note that the sunglasses are durable, scratch-resistant, and stay firmly in place during activities such as hiking, construction work, and pickleball. Buyers with larger head sizes find the sizing options especially helpful. Users also report clear, glare-free vision, strong side-light protection, and sturdy frames that inspire confidence during active play. Overall, these sunglasses are seen as a worthwhile investment that outperform cheaper alternatives in comfort, stability, and visual clarity. ... show more

  • Great glasses for a big old head.
Lens Color: Smoke
I love love love these glasses. I’ve had sunglasses since I was 14. That’s almost 41 years worth of sunglasses. These are very durable and they’re great. They fit my big head awesomely. But I noticed now when I went to go buy another pair that they’re no longer available. I hope they come back. Certainly recommend. ... show more

Lens Color: Smoke
I have a very large head 7 ⁷/⁸ and I feel like they fit perfect. Lens isnt overly dark so I dont constantly have to lift them up in different lighting. So far so good, I'd definitely recommend.
