  • For under $400, a great bargain
Color: Gray
I bought this because I had a need for a modern Windows 11 machine. I am using this for personal and business, not for gaming or video generation. It has been great for business (running Microsoft Office/Teams), surfing the web watching videos and listening to music. 1) The Battery: Unlike some others, I am getting about 6 hours of real-world battery life. I keep my brightness down and my use case may be the reason. But I have no major issues. The battery estimator says 8 hours on start, I get about 6. That's close enough in Windows World. So 4 stars there. That is more a Windows issue that CHUWI's though. 2) Charging: For those with issues charging - realize only one USB C on the computer is for the charger. Plug it in right, it will charge. Also it is a 12V charger, you cannot use any random 5 volt USB C charger. I have had no issues. A spare charger is about $24. Look before you plug in! 3) Screen: What a screen! I can stare at it all day. Great color, responsive touchscreen, Amazing at this price point. 4) Keyboard: Keyboard is great, and reinforced. Does not bend in the middle. Keyboard back light at this price point is a big plus. 5) Speed: For my use case, it is plenty fast. I don't see any slowdowns. Summary: For under $400, I got a fast computer with a great screen that runs Windows 11 flawlessly. Stays charged for a long time, and has multiple USB C ports for extra screens, etc... This is a win for anyone needed a general purpose PC, you get a full laptop at a netbook price. ... show more

  • Surprisingly good
Color: Gray
I actually knew Chuwi from other cheap computers and tablets. I know they're around for some time, but never bought anything from them until now. Just received this notebook, that will be used by the kids - I know that N100 is more than adequate for light tasks. Before I bough this, I read other reviews, so I was already expecting something very decently built. Even so I was positively impressed by the build. The body is aluminum, as stated on other reviews. but since the N100 is so energy efficient, the laptop does not seem to have fans - it has venting holes, but that's it. It gets a bit hot but is very silent. The screen is TFT, meaning that viewing angle is not great. Still, looking at the screen head on, contrast is very decent. I haven't yet tested color space, but color seems good enough for basic use. Touchpad is nicely sized and very responsive. Windows is Home edition, and did not try at all costs to make me sign with a Microsoft account. There's no bloatware. I cannot answer about durability yet, but first impression is good. Kids are very good testers for breakable stuff. ... show more

  • Frustrated
Color: Gray
Received my Freebook 2in 1. Booted up fine, but screen was dark, barely readable. Tried adjusting the brightness display setting to max, no change. Turned computer on and off, no change. Was messing around and for no reason I can figure out, the screen went to normal brightness. I thought, great it fixed itself. Began setting up my icons, inputting my passwords, etc. came back to it next day and display is back too being to dark to see clearly. Trying to troubleshoot problem on web, but no answers. And computer has my personal info on it now, so not comfortable returning the device. Very frustrated. I saved up for this computer and was looking forward to using it. Disappointed… I will not be buying CHUWI products again. ... show more

  • Surprisingly good machine, with a couple small flaws.
Color: Gray
Pros: - Very snappy considering the E-core driven N100. Really impressed with the performance of this little chip. Never expected that. - The screen is the real standout here, imo. Shockingly good contrast and clarity. If you had told me it was an OLED, I would have believed you. It's really, really good. - Plenty of ram of regular windows use. - Pretty good sized ssd. - Touchscreen and tablet mode! The screen is very responsive to touches. - Keyboard is OK. It's definitely isn't going to win any awards, but it's less mushy than I would have expected. Cons: - Trackpad is easily the worst part about it. It's textured in a way that works against you sliding your finger (not unusable, but not great), and the click takes a LOT of pressure and is very difficult to press in some places; impossible in others. The one saving grace is that tap-to-click is enabled by default, and believe me, you're going to need it. Clicking this thing is an exercise in frustration. There's very little feedback, it feels and sounds brittle, and you're much better off just using taps and two-finger taps to use it. Might be even better off using a mouse. - Not surprising, but windows will need to go through a lot of updates when you unbox it. Set aside like two hours to let it do its things (or more depending on your internet speed). It was still usable while churning through updates, which was frankly surprising given the little N100 CPU. - The hinge is kinda weak. You have to over-move the screen to move it into a new position. I'm not really worried about it breaking, but it definitely is far from impressive in how it feels to move. ... show more
