Incredible short story/Okafor family update. The Ethic series never fails to pull me from reality. I always find myself getting wrapped up into these characters especially Ethic. Seeing his growth between “Moth to a flame”, “Prada plan”, “Ethic series”, & now “Christmas with the Okafors” has been an amazing ride. I’m grateful to have the chance to read about such a beautifully written character flourishing and becoming a happily married man. We’ve read about him being pulled out of the darkness of loss and grief to finding and keeping his happiness. He deserves every bit. I could read about Ethic & the entire Okafor family for the rest of my days. As long as his character is alive & living on in happiness with his family, Mrs. Ashley Antoinette can do no wrong in my eyes. Ps: Ethic land Is my favorite land. ... show more

It was nice to spend Christmas with the Okafors!! This is a beautiful story of forgiveness and healing. It also gives insight on the characters past and answers questions that we all had in the back of our mind throughout the whole Ethic series. It wrapped up the whole story and gave closure on certain characters... and the others... well I guess you will have to read Butterfly to see whats up with them. What a surprise! Going into “Christmas with the Okafors: An Ethic Holiday Edition”, I was expecting a light, festive holiday read but what I found was so much more. This was a perfect accompaniment to the Ethic series. It was wonderful to catch up with everyone for their first Christmas celebration as a family. It is so easy for me to get lost in these books and the characters that Ashley Antoinette has created. There were many things that I liked about this book. I really enjoyed the alternating viewpoints as well as how the events played out in the days leading up to Christmas. Even though it was a pretty quick read, I still managed to find myself full of emotion while reading. I laughed and even got teary eyed. Not to mention a major twist that I didn't see coming( can’t wait to see how that plays out)! There were a few errors but nothing that really took away from the story. ... show more

Coming from the Ethic series, this Christmas special was refreshing to read. It stamped the love Ethic and Alani has and extended to the family and friends. I enjoyed the little “incident” that brought the whole family together. Morgan is still a mess over Messiah but seeing how Bash and his family is trying to fill that void was nice. I like that she is finally accepting Alani fully as part of the family. The “shocker” of one of her twins, I’m excited to read how that storyline will play out. I LOVE the cute puppy love between Bella and Hendrix. He is toooooo smooth for his age. Buying her gifts at the mall, conniving his way into Ethic’s house, I would love a series of just them. Ethic steps out of his comfort zone for Alani this Christmas and I love it. It just shows how perfect their love is. Alani’s willingness to give Ethic what he wants at the end of the book, makes me excited to see how it brings them closer. Alani’s love for Christmas and her “traditions” reminds me of myself. There are a lot of moments that I can identify with Alani about. Loved this book and read to start the Butterfly series. ... show more

This was a great surprise and a great read. I just love that damn Ethic. It was such a tear jerker especially seeing Alani and Morgan’s relationship evolve. In the Ethic series there were times when Morgan got on my last nerve but seeing her maturity in this book made me excited for Butterfly. I love little Eazy he is such an intuitive kid and his connection to Yara was so moving. His story line made me cry it was so moving. ... show more
