So, I got this because I usually like to have a backlit keyboard, and I recently picked up a roommate, and I wanted something quiet, standard sized, backlit and with macros. This seemed to fit the bill. However, after receiving it and actually trying it out, I struggle to see a good reason why this exists, and it seems like one of those circumstances where the designer was super focused on making their product different and able to stand out when compared to other ones, and didn't pay very much attention to the actual usefulness of the changes as a result. My biggest issues are the backlight, and the labels. So, I sort of understand having the labels for the keys on the side. I have definitely had some times where I was positioned so that would have been helpful. But, they are not frequent. The problem is not so much that they are on the side though, but that the keys themselves are about half the normal height, which means you pretty much have to be looking at the keyboard from a point level with the bottom of the keyboard to see them properly, and the keys in front of the key you're trying to look at get in the way unless the angle is Juuuust right. There also doesn't seem to be a very good method for selecting the color on the backlight. It seems that it is a rainbow when not connected to anything, and then it is either blue, red or green depending on which device you have it connected to. I guess that's kind of useful because you know immediately if you accidentally switch to another device, but keyboards are not often used for multiple devices like that unless you have a home lab setup. At $35.99 unless you fit what appears to be an extremely narrow use case, I would not recommend this product.

I really wanted to like this keyboard (and there are good things about it), but either I got a lemon or the wireless components just aren't good quality. I've used it for work for a week and tried to resolve or work around these issues, but no luck. It's not usable. The first thing that makes it really unuable is that every few minutes it stops responding for a second or two. Which is insanely annoying when trying to type or do work, or really anything. Then it'll suddenly start working again. Sometimes I'd just miss a few letters that I may not even notice, sometimes I'd have to sit there for several seconds trying to type just waiting for it to respond again. The second technical issue is that three times so far it locks up with a key pressed. As if a key was stuck down, but it's not that. Pressing all the keys doesn't solve the issue, nor does even turning it off and back on. The only way to resolve it when this happens is to unplug and replug the USB dongle, which indicates that the dongle itself is locking up. Weird. Outside of these technical issues, the keyboard itself feels nice. The keys are responsive and well placed. The features (3 ways to connect, programmable keys, volume control knob, etc) would be great... if I could use it. Another note is that the key labels are hard to see. They don't light up (they're not translucent and backlit) and the LEDs underneath don't really hit them where you can see them. I was hoping I'd be able to use this keyboard in low light, but it's not really feasible. Not a deal breaker, but the images looked like translucent backlit keys. I'd give this 4 stars if it worked, but with the consistent freezing and locking up it's just a paperweight for me.

This is a “different” keyboard from what I have used in the past. It is instantly noticeable as soon as you open the box: there are no key labels on the TOPS of the keys. Instead, the labels are printed on the FRONT/SIDE of the keys facing you. At first, this is a bit disconcerting, and I imagine that someone who is not a touch-typist would have a very difficult time using this board. Build & Backlighting: The keyboard features a rechargeable battery, rotating RGB lighting effects, and incredibly flexible connectivity. It supports Bluetooth (up to 3 devices with easy switching), a 2.4GHz wireless dongle, and a direct wired USB connection. The kit comes with the cable and dongle, so it's ready to go. Out of the box, I wish it was a bit heavier, as the plastic chassis feels a little lightweight when you first hold it. However, that feeling changes when you actually start typing. One thing to note: the backlighting is strictly for decoration, not for helping you see the keys in the dark. Because the keycaps themselves are NOT translucent, the RGB lighting merely leaks out from the sides of the keys rather than shining through the letters. Performance & Typing Feel: The keyboard has very little latency, and typing is actually quite good. The switches are not as loud or “clicky” as some others I have tried, but they feel great. Even without being used to the layout, I was easily able to type at 65 WPM with about 95% accuracy. It definitely won't hinder your touch-typing. I also really like the physical knob on the upper right. While you can set it to change the lighting brightness, the more practical use is setting it to act as a volume knob for your computer. It’s way more intuitive than hitting awkward Fn key combos. I tested both the wireless dongle and direct connection on my MacBook Air (using a USB A-to-C adapter), and it worked flawlessly. (Note on the video: I recorded a quick typing sample so you can hear the switches and see the lighting modes. I ran the audio through Audacity to filter out the loud server closet fans in my office, so if you notice a tiny bit of audio distortion, that's why!) The Bottom Line: If you are a touch-typist and can get past the side-printed labels, this is a highly responsive, flexible keyboard that works great for both gaming and daily productivity. Pros: Excellent multi-device connectivity (Bluetooth, Dongle, and Wired). Very low latency with a smooth, comfortable typing experience. Physical volume/brightness knob is a highly intuitive feature. Clean, minimalist "stealth" look on the desk. Cons: Keys are not translucent, making the RGB useless for reading keys in the dark. Plastic housing feels a bit lightweight and cheap before putting it on the desk. Not recommended if you need to look down at your keys to type. ---- How my star ratings work: • 5 Stars: Very positive. High quality/design. Fully accomplishes goals. I’d likely buy again. • 4 Stars: Positive. Good quality. Accomplishes goals, but there might be better alternatives. • 3 Stars: Neutral. Medium quality or design quirks limit its utility. Caution advised. • 2 Stars: Low quality. Design flaws make it hard to recommend. • 1 Star: Negative experience. Serious flaws or poor quality. Not recommended.
