  • The bridge is in the wrong place by 16mm. This guitar will never sound correct across the fretboard.
Color: BLUE
1) I'm an adult who enjoys modifying and tuning-up cheap instruments. I'm accustomed to dealing with garbage. In fact, I sometimes love working on/with garbage -- it really teaches you a lot, and when you're done, you usually get something weird and usable, if not useful. 2) I bought this cheap guitar in "Used - Like New" condition so that I could make to make a steel-string "ukulele-thingy." 3) This cheap guitar is either a toy or total garbage, depending on your expectations. That applies to the general construction, but also the following issues: 4a) The spacing between frets is for a 480mm scale length, so on a cheap "uncompensated" bridge/saddle like this guitar's, the distance from the 12th fret to the saddle center-line should be about 240mm. 4b) The distance from the 12th fret to the saddle's center-line is about 256mm -- 16mm of error, more than half an inch. 4c) That means that the guitar will never change notes consistently as you press strings down the fretboard. If you tune this guitar like normal to E A D G B E, then using a capo to press all of the strings at the 12th fret should produce the next octave (higher pitch) of E A D G B E. But since the bridge/saddle is in the wrong position, the notes from the 12th fret are flat by about half a semi-tone -- in other words, the notes become very close to D# G# C F A# D#, when they should be quite close to E A D G B E. 5a) The "action" of this guitar is extremely high. The strings are about 4.5mm above the 12th fret, whereas a decently tuned guitar might have the strings about 3mm above the 12th fret. 5b) The notes on this guitar flatten so much by the time you reach the 12th octave *in spite of the fact* that the action is so high. High action causes notes to become *higher/sharper* at the 12th fret because you have to bend the string more to get the string to contact the frets. This increases the tension -- like tightening your string just a tiny bit at the tuning peg. And yet still, the notes become much lower than they should be as you move down the fretboard. 6) The above intonation issues *due to a totally incorrect bridge/saddle placement* are unacceptable for any kind of instrument that someone wants to learn how to play guitar on. This thing is a toy, and for the money, there are instruments that are less like toys. 7a) The spacing between strings at the "zero fret" is less than 6mm (only 5.5mm between the edges of the thickest strings). I have small-ish adult hands, and on this guitar, it's basically impossible for me to push a string against the fretboard without muting a nearby string. 7b) The high action *combined with the thin steel strings* will make pushing strings against the fretboard extremely uncomfortable for anyone who hasn't built up callouses on their fingers by playing fretted instruments for a while. 8) On my guitar, some of the screws that attach the tuning pegs are missing. It seems like they got stripped out and fell out. This is the kind of issue you can expect to find on cheap instruments, but it's easily fixed compared to A BRIDGE BEING IN THE WRONG POSITION, and I did get my guitar used, so I totally *knew* I was going to deal with issues like a few missing tiny screws. 9a) Overall, if the above issues were fixed, I might actually recommend this item. The bridge being in the wrong position is just unforgivable, though. 9b) There are some details that are "cheap" but just par for the course with a cheap kid's instrument, like the tuning pegs, or like the heavy, heavy paintjob (maybe some kids like that, and it does add some degree of protection). And the reinforcements between side and top/bottom plates seem to be made of hardboard, whereas on my many inexpensive ukuleles, the reinforcements are made of the traditional slotted/notched wood. Honestly, if the instrument holds up, I don't really care. In fact, I might keep the hardboard thing in mind for some of the weird instruments I'm making out of stuff from the dollar store (which includes clipboards made from hardboard). 10) Overall, if you want a cool guitar for your kid, uh, look elsewhere. The bridge misplacement on this guitar is just gross, and I just had to move the bridge on a $30 tenor ukulele the other day. 11) I'm going to fix this cheap guitar, turn it into what I want (by changing the strings to four "courses" of 2x paired treble strings and 2x single bass strings), and I'm pretty sure I'll be very happy with it. But that's because I'm a weird dude who's bored by traditional instruments, who loves working on garbage, who has thousands of dollars in fabrication tools, and who doesn't see the point in making an instrument from scratch when cheap instrument *bodies* are usually okay. Whereas *you'd* probably hate this thing, especially if you figured out the kinds of things that are wrong with it. Caveat emptor. I tried to warn you. ... show more

  • A plastic toy with horrible intonation.
Tune the open strings but don’t expect the chords to be in tune. If you fret a string the tuning is too far off to play. Gets much worse as you go higher on the neck. Note past the 9th fret don’t even sound, they mute themselves. This is a kid’s toy for my 6-year-old but I thought I could at least strum some chords with it. Fretting any notes makes them wayyyy yo sharp (almost a full semitones) which makes open chords terrible and bar chords pretty bad too as you move up the neck. The zippers on the “gig bag” fell off on the 2nd day (really bad stitching in very cheap plastic). Maybe I’m expecting too much for forty bucks, but shouldn’t a cheap guitar at least be somewhat playable? ... show more

  • fake guitar. Its barely a toy
I would never recommend hurting your musicians drive with this crap.. it is Absolute garbage. Buyer be ware this guitar for 60$ is the trashiest pile of crap you will ever ruin your beginning guitarist with. I returned 1 got another the first broke at the neck normal tuning tension broke the glue at the neck. New one like the old one does not have real tuning ability. The frets are toy placement not a real instrument. This is a 60$ toy. You can absolutely get a real properly fretted guitar for this price. I was took buy this toy. It doesn't even tune properly. Let alone hold its tune.. forget high fret rings. It simply is not a real guitar. This was a fake description and there is There is no way some have proper frets and some don't. This is not an instrument that will help a kid learn anything. Its a toy that costs too much money . I This was a waste of money dont get hosed its worthless. ... show more

  • DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GARBAGE GUITAR
Color: BLUE
Bought this for my 6 year old nephew, who has shown interest in playing guitar. As a guitar player myself, of course, I wanted to encourage this and help him get started on learning how to play. When I received the guitar, I took it out to tune it before giving it to him. So glad I did because no matter how perfectly you tune it, when you actually play chords, they sound terrible because the intonation is so far out of wack. The action on the fretboard is way too high, especially for a child. I can't imagine little tiny fingers would have the strength to hold down these strings. For such a low price, I didn't expect a professional high-quality guitar, but I expected a guitar that works ok enough for a kid to learn chords and scales. This is pretty much a toy, the kind of kids toy guitar you'd buy for $5 at a garage sale. I will be returning this immediately. ... show more

  • Misleading description at best
Please don’t be fooled by the description of this product. No reasonable guitar instructor would approve these for lessons. I had low expectations for and was still disappointed. I just needed a half scale guitar with steel string strength that stayed in tune and had reasonable intonation. I bought two of these. Both have uneven frets, poor neck bow, no way to adjust the truss, and absolutely terrible intonation. After stretching the strings, I could tune it open, but even two frets in the intonation was horrible. Tuning to the fifth fret didn’t help either. Total junk. Don’t buy. Don't believe the fake reviews. If someone started a class action suit over the advertising I wouldn’t be surprised. ... show more

  • Good Beginners Guitar
Color: BLUE
I bought this guitar for a 7 year old to learn to plan the guitar. It has steel strings. It is small enough got the child to hold comfortably. It needs frequent tuning- not sure if it is because how the child plays it or it’s the guitar. Good value for money, especially since I don’t know if the desire to play the guitar is a temporary phase. If their interest lasts longer and he bets better at playing it - I might get them a more expensive guitar. ... show more
