  • Quality
Style: Large Breed Adult Dog Size: 28 Pound (Pack of 1)
Been using this Dog Food for the past 20 years. Just look at the first few ingredients and you'll realize it's a top contender as far as quality at a reasonable price. I add a little olive oil and mix it thru and the dogs I've had throughout the years just gobble it up. Glad someone recommended it to me years ago. Thanks for listening. ... show more

Our dogs are all very picky when it comes to their dinners. But switching to Chicken Soup seems to satisfy the taste buds of all three! Thanks, Chicken Soup, for a wonderful product!!

  • My husky loves these
Style: Adult Dog Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
My dog loves this brand, I switch up flavors because he gets bored of it sometimes but thatโ€™s cause huskies are brats. Overall it sits well on his stomach and he is constantly eating them throughout the day

  • Lots of enthusiasm

Size of kibble to small or my dog but I took care of that when I re-ordered.

  • Moderate amount of protein. My Great Pyrenes gobble it up. Kibble is smaller. Dogs aren't picky.
Style: Adult Dog Size: 13.5 Pound (Pack of 1)
This food has a moderate amount of protein and is free of soy, wheat, and corn which are all top allergens for dogs. My two are litter mates and have issues with hot spots and digging. So far, it hasn't flared up so I am optimistic about this brand. The kibble is on the smaller side, but they don't seem to mind. They're not terribly picky, although their stomachs are. I haven't noticed any uptick or lessening of potty breaks, and everything is smooth sailing so far on the farm. The ingredients do have grains, but they also have a good bit of meat in them too for my two big omnivores. Overall, this formula has 26% protein which is pretty good for most dogs. It's enough to keep my two farm dogs working. The rest of the ingredients are fairly decent, too. The first two ingredients are beef and turkey. Not meal, but rather beef and turkey. The third ingredient is turkey meal, but meals are considered to be a better choice since they may contain 100-300% more protein than the actual meat itself before it's cooked down. It has plenty of amino acids for dogs. This formula also has barley and brown rice which are both carbohydrates that are easy to digest. Less upset tummy. There's also peas, which are high in fiber. Great for dogs, although less ideal for cats. There's even taurine in this formula. Plenty of B-vitamins and fiber in the other ingredients as well as easy to digest vegetables. In the top ten ingredients there's chicken fat listed which is perfect for omega-6 and a long life span for my two. It has plenty of linoleic acid. There's also chelated minerals for easy absorption, plus they're more reserved for higher quality of dog foods so at least there's bang for the buck with the higher price. It ends up being $2.22 a pound, so less than vet formula. Flaxseed, lentils, and other sources of grain make up some of the protein bulk in this formula but overall I'm happy with 26% for my two 2-year olds. There's average to higher than average protein, moderate amount of fats and carbs, and it was apparently so good that my two broke into the bag before I fed them again. Definitely more impressed with the dog food over cat and I'll consider getting this again so long as their coats keep looking healthy. ... show more

  • Healthier, all-natural dog food, but WARNING: can result in some foul flatulence!
Style: Adult Dog Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
My dog is not a picky eater (she would eat wood if we let her), so she scarfed this new food down without a second thought. Even though we mixed it with her old food to let her adapt, this food seems to cause gas, at least in the beginning, because whew was she farty that first week. Luckily, that seems to have died down because let me tell you, those were some potent bombs she was letting rip! Besides that temporary unpleasant result though, she seems to be liking the food and has had no other undesirable consequences. This food is perhaps more expensive than "standard" dry dog food options, but I do not think the cost is unwarranted considering that it seems like a healthier option, with meat being the first ingredient and no preservatives or artificial colors/flavors included. I can read and recognize nearly all the ingredients, so I think that is a good thing! There is also no soy, corn or wheat, so dogs who are intolerant to fillers should not have an issue. There are definitely much higher priced foods out there, so I like that this offers a decent balance, providing a nutritious, all-natural option at a reasonable price point. • My dog likes it!
Style: Large Breed Adult Dog Size: 28 Pound (Pack of 1)
This review is for Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food - Large Breed Adult Dog - Beef & Brown Rice Recipe 28LB Soy Free, Corn Free, Wheat Free | Dry Dog Food Made with Real Ingredients. I have a large boxer/german shepherd mix dog and in her older age she has become very picky with the food she eats. We decided to try this dog food for her and she likes it. She normally likes to have a topper mixed in with her dry food and this one is the same way. She doesn't like it enough to just eat it plain. The first few ingredients are beef, turkey, turkey meal, beef meal and pearled barley. I like seeing these ingredients listed first but the ingredients list here is long. This is also made in the USA which is great. Overall I think it is a good dog food. ... show more

  • Decent Ingredients And Nice Kibble Size
Style: Large Breed Adult Dog Size: 28 Pound (Pack of 1)
As dog foods go this is a decent option at this price point. Not the best, but better than most. Upon opening the bag there is little smell, and the kibble is a decent size. I prefer larger pieces for my Labradoodle who eats too fast (even with a special bowl to slow her down). Making her actually chew her food isn't a bad thing! Ingredients-wise again, decent and definitely something I'm ok with feeding my dog tho it's not my #1 choice. I prefer high meat-based foods (Dogs, after all, ARE carnivores and not omnivores). The fact that it starts with beef... then beef and turkey meal, before going on to the carb-laden (but easier than most to digest) barley is a decent start. I DO wish they wouldn't always add chicken or turkey to these foods tho. Some dogs really struggle with poultry protein. Millet at least has a decent protein profile as well as being a seed/carb/filler. Lots of veggies and fruits in the mix (again, tho, is this necessary for a CARNIVORE?) One thing that is missing that I like in my dog's food are the probiotic blends...which help to offset the carbs in these foods. In the end, Bella likes it, I don't see any of my "no-go" ingredients like Corn and Wheat, and you could certainly do much worse. ... show more
