I’ve really been impressed with the CHI products I have owned and this is no exception. Every time I get a cheaper product and then go back to using a CHI I’m reminded of why it’s worth it to pay for quality. This straightener is a little bigger than others I’ve owned and I now realize this may have been what I have been missing. I don’t have good hair so I need all the help I can get. The large surface on this device makes it easier to get the nice wave I’m looking for. With smaller straightener “blades”, I got too tight a curl. This one gives me a nice gentle wave though I can make it a tighter curl if I want it. Since my bar is already stick straight I very rarely use a straightener to actually straighten my hair. But I will often use one to get volume at the roots. This tool does that very nicely and doesn’t seem to damage my hair. The tool heats up very quickly and has been gentle on my hair and scalp. Although it’s not cheap, it’s worth it to spend the extra money on a good tool if you can. It really does make a difference.

My hair straightening iron is older and needed replacing so I was excited to find this CHI iron! Here’s what I love about it: I love the easy grip on this iron- it fits in my hand nicely which makes it easier to use. I really love that the controls are in the inside of the iron so when I’m using it, I’m not accidentally hitting the control buttons like I did with my old iron! This hair styling iron heats up super fast and has a mode setting to help you pick your temperature quickly according to your hair type (fine- coarse hair) all outlined in easy instruction booklet. I love that it has the large ceramic plates- 1.5”. It is actually perfect sized to get the sections of my hair. I like that the ceramic plates protect my hair and give quality results- as if I actually went to the salon and had my hair done! This hairstyling iron has a decent length of cord that swivels with movement, so there’s no tangling of the cord. The cord has a velcro strap to secure the cord wrapped up for storage and traveling. Most of all I love the results of this hot iron! My hair tends to be wavy and curly, especially if I let it air dry. When I use this hairstyling iron, within minutes I have sleek straight hair! I went to a get together and received compliments. People asked me if I just went to have my hair done! I love the feeling of my hair after using this! It feels soft and smooth, and I have no frizz! Included with the iron is a 44 iron guard thermal protection spray made by CHI. I sprayed a small amount on each section of hair prior to running the iron through it. It smells wonderful and I don’t feel anything in my hair except a silky feeling. No stickiness or hard feeling clumps just smooth! I also love the fact that I can use this iron to curl my hair and add professional looking waves to my hair, if I want! I find nothing negative to report on this product! I do wish that it came with a protective bag to put it in especially for traveling. Also for a tip- I find it helpful to use a glove on my free hand for protection while touching the sections of hair that I straighten (to not get too much heat on my hand or accidentally touch the hot plates). I just use a simple knitted glove! CHI- is a well-known, for making salon quality hair products and hairstyling irons. I am so happy with this product and I cannot get over the beautiful difference it makes with my hair!

Using the CHI Original Digital Ceramic Hairstyling Iron has been a smooth experience for my hair especially since my strands don't get snagged or stuck between swipes. One major drawback is how short the cable is compared to other flat irons I've used in the past because it feels excessively short and occasionally unplugs itself while I'm in the middle of styling. On the positive side it offers various heat levels to suit different hair types and it works well for adding curls or creating volume. I did find it a little tricky to style my bangs with the 1.5 inch plate size but I still plan on keeping this in my regular rotation. I was also delighted with the inclusion of the 44 Iron Guard protectant spray since I haven't used a good heat protector in such a long time. The spray doesn't always distribute evenly from the bottle so I prefer to spray it onto my hands first and then work it through my hair to make sure everything is covered. It didn't make my hair feel greasy or lose any volume and there was no odd smell which makes it a very pleasant addition to my routine. I might even start buying it regularly once this bottle runs out. My hair still looks beautiful today with so much volume even after being out in the cooler breeze yesterday. Overall I'm really happy with how this kit performs for my daily styling.

I have 2C wavy hair that is waist length, medium density, medium thickness, and can be on the frizzy side. I had a Sedu flat iron (which is an expensive professional brand) for almost 20 years, and I loved it! However, after several moves, and a whole lot of use it was time for a replacement. I had been looking at buying another Sedu, but they have been sold out for a while so I started looking elsewhere. I have heard great things about CHI, so I figured I'd give them a try. If I had to compare the 2 straighteners head to head I would have a tough time choosing a winner. They are fairly evenly matched as far as ease of use, smoothness of the plates, heat settings, how quickly they heat up, sturdiness, and ability to straighten the hair. Where the CHI shines is that its price is much cheaper, and it has some nice extra features. Some of those features are a lighted digital display, and controls on the inside of the handle which makes it very difficult to accidently change the temperature. Speaking of temperature, I really like how I can choose pre-set modes (fine, medium, and coarse settings) using the "M" button, or I can manually set the temperature using the + or - buttons. It has floating plates, which I didn't quite understand the purpose of until I used it... they make the iron glide effortlessly over your hair (I think they may also help with curling or creating waves, but don't quote me on that...I will update once I try those methods). It also has an auto shut off feature which I realize is pretty standard, but since my Sedu was professional it didn't have that option. I am absolutely impressed that it stood up so well to a professional iron! In my side by side picture of my natural hair texture vs straightened, please ignore my scraggly ends, it's not the iron's fault...I am just very overdo for a trim. Oh, and I almost forgot, it also comes with a small bottle of heat protectant!
