This is by far the nicest hair styling tool I have ever owned. I am the sort of person who buys $20-30 hair tools at a big box store and has a hard time ever spending more, but this was absolutely worth it and I wish I’d invested in a tool of this quality a decade ago. I could feel the difference the first time I used this - the plates glide sooo smoothly over my hair, with no catching or tangling as I sometimes experience with my cheaper hair straightener. There was a bottle of hair protectant included, which was a nice surprise, and it works like a dream to decrease frizz. I’ve been using a frizz reducer on my hair when wet, a second frizz reducer for dry hair after heat styling, and then hair spray to reduce the still-present frizz. The provided wet hair spray protector works so well in tandem with the straightener, I only have to use it along with a little bit of hair spray to finish things off. So I am now able to eliminate multiple styling products from my daily routine, which is awesome! The big surprise for me is that this tool works to curl the hair as well as straighten it, and I almost like it more as a curling iron than I do as a straightener, which I was not expecting. It arrives with instructions for curls and waves, and by the second or third time attempting curls, I mastered the technique and my hair comes out looking amazing. I will be able to get rid of not only my old hair straightener, but my curling iron as well! Given all the things this one styling tool and spray product are capable of replacing, the value for the cost is very much worth it, even before taking into account that my hair looks better, too. The tool comes with a guide on what temperature to use for your type of hair, and I was surprised to find that the recommended temp for my hair is much lower than what I’ve been using in my cheaper tool. I was skeptical that it would work on the lower temp, but it did, and when I tested it out higher, it left a crimp mark where I initially clamped it down, which tells me it was too hot. So the temperature recommendations seem on point, and I’m happy I can use lower temperatures and subject my hair to less damage at the end of the day. This product I use for straightening mostly, I have curled the ends with this product as well and it has done a great job. I really like the LED display makes it easy to view the temp. The ease of use is great straightens hair without having to redo over and over. The curl of ends is great as well leaves me with bouncy curl ends. To be completely honest, I'm just not that great at doing my hair so I really rely on good hair tools to help me out. Over the years I've realized that it's worth it to me to invest in a better quality hair tool to get the results that I want instead of settling for something that-- while cheaper - - really isn't going to do a lot for me. I've heard so many people recommend the Chi flat irons and when I saw this gorgeous milk chocolate brown color I instantly wanted it. Although I've used different hair styling products from Chi, this is the first hair tool that I've ever had from them and now I understand why people rave about the quality. It feels very solid and sturdily built and it's easy to hold, even in my smaller hands. I really like having a few different temperature options to choose from and it's nice that the temperature control buttons are actually on the inside of the iron which means that you don't accidentally push the buttons as you're gripping the handle like you might with some other irons where the buttons are located on the exterior part of the handle. There is, however, a digital temperature display on the outside of the handle to indicate the current heat setting. The iron heats up super fast and it's really easy to use. I've tried it on my own hair and I've also let my mom borrow it to try and both of us agree that it doesn't tug or pull as it slides down the hair. Obviously I'm super happy with this. I think it's absolutely worth the investment for anyone who really appreciates having quality hair tools in their collection and I'm really glad that I have it in mine. ... show more

First, the obvious: it came very well packaged and looks really nice! The color is a matte chocolate, with easy to operate buttons and a clear LCD display. It comes with three preset settings: fine/damaged hair, medium/wavy hair and thick/curly. I have shoulder length, very wavy, highlighted hair that's pretty frizzy and damaged, and I used it on the lowest setting. It was really easy to get started, heated up quickly and only took me a pass or two to get the look I needed. I did blow dry my hair first, but did not put any effort in straightening it with a round brush, so the iron did most of the heavy lifting. It worked well and quickly. On the box it says: straighten, curl or flip. I usually use my T3 round straightening iron for curling, as the shape makes more sense and haven't tried this one for that purpose. I will give it a ty but I am a bit confused on how to use a flat, wider iron for curling. I did not care too much for the included mini bottle of heat protectant, mostly because I use my own products. But it was a really nice addition, so that you get to try theirs as well without having to buy it separately. Being "gourmand" series, I was expecting more of a vanilla/chocolate kind of sweet dessert scent, but instead it's advertised as sandalwood and amber. I will give it another try or two and maybe it will grow on me, I just try to avoid strong fragrances when it comes to my hair because it's very porous and really holds on to scents. It's made in the US, and can be applied to both wet or dry hair, so it's very versatile. ... show more
