I had another CHI flat iron that was 10+ years old and still going strong. The only issue was that the plastic sheathing that covered where the wires came into the unit detached and the wires were exposed. I figured it probably wasn't safe, especially in a bathroom environment. So when Prime Day came around I figured I should find another. My old one was no longer available so I researched the 5 models that were discounted for Prime Day. I chose the Lava 2.0 because I liked the concept of lower temperatures, but was still hesitant, so wanted to be able to still control it. You couldn't do that with the other Lava models. The first thing I noticed was that it is much lighter than my old one - bonus. It also has a rubber sleeve to go over the plates so you can use it and immediately throw it in a drawer or suitcase, etc... and not have to worry. My old one went to 405 degrees and I always used it here, so I first tried it at 375 - worked great. Then I tried at 350, not quite sure I'm sold here. I will give it a few more tries, but I'm thinking 375 may be my sweet spot. But overall, this works great. Hoping I can get another 10 years out of it. ... show more

Only 1 already seg temperature but I liked it. Has zero accessories. For the price and simplicity, I expected a little heat resistant mat or a sleeve for storage. Still, iron is high quality. I have wazy/slight curly latina hair, thick and porous. It ironed really well

The media could not be loaded. This is such a cool design I just wish it worked properly. I contacted Chi customer service and they said it’s malfunctioning, I’ve had this flat iron for THREE days. When you unlock it and increase the temp it’s supposed to show you the current temp then start climbing to the new set temp. The current temp should be what it was locked at . Example video… it was locked at 370 I unlocked increased to 380 and the current temp showed 395! Another time I had it at 360 increased to 380 it showed current temp 347. Not sure if this really works but I used a thermometer ( meat thermometer and heat sensing thermometer) and it always showed something different kept changing temps , when it was set and locked at 380 the temp on these thermometers said 348 but kept changing . I had to return . I have fine hair and need to know what temp I’m using. If your purchase one and it seems like it’s working properly I can tell you it slides through my hair very easily, no snags, leaves my hair shiny and it’s easy to hold . I’ve owed another Chi for 8-10 years with the dial , still works and love it but wanted a new upgraded one. UPDATE: 1/12/24- I wanted to try again and ordered this flat iron through a salon this time. Guess what… SAME issue … Fluctuating temps and this time this one was used with someone’s hair stuck in it and marks on the iron. I am done trying with this flat iron. Such a cool iron but two have now not worked the way it’s supposed to. Extremely frustrated. I’m going to try the T3 next. ... show more
