Description

Bare Bones Premium Dark Shine Spray (TVD_104) revives the deep black look on hard-to-reach exterior pieces like wheel wells, undercarriage plastics, suspension shrouds, and trim. The easy spray formula lays down an even, satin sheen that restores uniform color across faded surfaces without a greasy feel. Designed for exterior use, Bare Bones undercarriage spray helps you complete a professional post-wash finish. Spray directly onto clean, dry plastic, rubber, and vinyl, then wipe for an even coat or leave to set on larger areas. Thick coverage reaches liners, inner fenders, and other textured parts that are tough to dress with standard applicators, helping your vehicle look freshly detailed from every angle. The non-greasy finish resists dust pickup and sling, keeping underbody areas looking tidy between washes. Detailers rely on Bare Bones to even out blotchy plastics, enhance depth for photos and shows, and deliver a crisp, uniform appearance on daily drivers and enthusiast builds alike. Use it after washes or before photos and resale prep for maximum curb appeal. This 128 oz (1 Gallon) size is ideal for garages and shops. Decant into a secondary spray bottle for targeted application across multiple vehicles. Pair with your favorite wash soap, cleaner, and microfiber tools to round out a complete exterior detailing routine. This spray is great for RV owners and DIY detailers to use during seasonal maintenance to revive undercarriages and exterior trim.

  • Super Exterior Product
Style: 16 oz
I am a professional detailer and in my early days I used to be a CG everything guy but after a while I got tired of trying to figure out which product to use for 15 specific uses, only to figure out they are mostly the same with a different smell. I was using CG tire shine, then VRT, then a satin VRT, then I got tired of not getting the finish and longevity I was looking for. I saw barebones and read the label for a while. Seems like if it is design for undercarriage protection, safe for rubber, plastic, and trim, then it should be fine on tires. Well, this is probably the best tire dressing you will find. Same goes for Adams undercarriage Protectant. Same stuff I think. First it is very oily so if you dont want any lasting stains or slippery spots in your driveway, cover the area or try to clean any spots with a degreaser and pressure washer. Second, you can apply it with a MF towel, tire sponge, or just spray it on. I tend to just spray it on to the tire AND the wheel wells. It’s cheap enough to be liberal with. With just spraying it on, it applies a thick layer on there, let it dry. At first it looks a little streaky as it runs but it dries to a nice even matte finish. You can apply 2 coats about 30 minutes apart if you want more gloss and longevity. Third, the gloss. I dont like super shinny tires. This gives more of a rich deep finish rather than a shine. The way it works is the product seems to react with the oils in plastics and rubbers to recharge it and coat it. It brings out the original natural color plus the spray itself is dark. Forth, longevity. It lasts forever in terms of tire dressings. As long as you properly clean the tires and get them to as “degreased” as possible, the product just clings to tires and plastic wheel wells. Like I mentioned, its like it not only coats but rejuvenated those materials that dry out. On my personal car (BMW M4), I spray the tires and wheel wells with a strong degreaser like LA’s totally awesome or Wolf Degreaser. Sometimes I use a brush to agitate but most times I just spray it of with the pressure washer, let them fully dry, spray this stuff on, wipe any overspray away, let it dry and I’m done. Tires stay rich and dark though about 6 washes if I dont repeat this process and just wash the car. On my client’s cars, the tires and wheel wells stay perfect for about a month of every day driving before you can start to see dirt again. About 3 months before its completely gone. Fifth, is the versatility. I use this for long lasting finish and protection on tires and wheel wells but it also restores and/or protects plastic trim like black plastic Jeep fenders, bumpers, black plastic mirror caps, and various plastic trim. Obviously, its great for all other underbody parts but works magic for keeping road grime from building up on suspension and drivetrain parts. Just be smart where you spray. Out of curiosity, I cleaned and used a MF cloth to apply some to my KW coilovers on my M4 to see if it would keep them clean and debris free. Nothing worse than going to adjust ride height and having your collars seized up because of dirt, rocks, or rust. After 3 months, they looked almost untouched. I just wouldn’t go crazy with the stuff in those areas. Same thing with the engine bay. Need to add some rich finishing details to all that plastic they stick under there now. No problem. I thought the heat might mess with it a little but it was absolutely fine. I also thought that maybe since it was kind of thick and oily that dust would stick. Nope. After it dries, you get real protective qualities and it lasts for about 2-3 months under the hood before dust will start to gather. Can get a little streaky on metal pieces under the hood if you accidentally get some on there. ONE NEGATIVE. You can just keep spraying it on the tires and other rubber without cleaning and it works just fine but over about 6 months, I noticed that my tire sidewalls started to become slightly hard. They weren’t dried out and performance wasn’t impacted. No cracking, splits, or tears but I could feel the product buildup in to something similar to a shell or the hard crystaling of ceramic if left out. hard to describe. Nothing major but on my next set of tires I just made sure to degrease and scrub the tires every 2-3 months and then add barebones and its fine. ... show more

  • Wipe plastics!
Style: 16 oz
I mean the pics speak for themselves. This is a 13 year old truck. (I do keep it ridiculously clean). I used the whole bottle in one sitting essentially. I tried just soaking everything without wiping, the next day all the fender plastics looked like a drunk girls cheeks after crying in the bathroom. Anyway, I misted the plastics with the smidge I had left and wiped with a microfiber. All is well. ... show more

  • Probably my favorite CG product
Style: 16 oz
I don’t have a show car and my undercarriage is only inches from the ground. I bought this because I like the performance of smaller stock wheels but NOT the amount of wheel well left visible. I wanted to make that disappear, and as usual, Chemical Guys has a product for every desire you can imagine and some you didn’t. It works brilliant to restore the wells to velvety darkness. As another reviewer noted, it’s a great dressing for other places, too, and lasts a long time so it saves both time and money. The scent is reminiscent of grape candy and it dries down to a rich low-sheen finish, not greasy-looking. I have easily 20 products from this company and as many from other companies crowding my shelves; we all have our own particular needs and favorites. This works just like some competitors tire products but at a better price and more flexibility of use. That’s a win-win for me. Photos show without and with flash of product that was applied 4 weeks ago. ... show more

  • Awesome stuff
Style: 16 oz
No preparation needed. Just spray everything under your Jeep/car. It will not affect anything except it will blacken everything that be. Makes the undercarriage look super black. ITS NOT PAINT. It just darkens what should be black. It last a good while too. Just try it and you’ll be like me. I do it twice a year. GO TO A PARKING LOT TO SPRAY IT ON. ... show more

  • Good

I actually like this product for wheel wells. Although the bottle internally broke and wouldn’t spray.

  • First time and impressed
Style: 16 oz
We have a 2017 Jeep JK and the black areas of the frame, wheel arches and other spaces looked terrible. We also changed out the front bumper which left some exposed metal, it looked terrible, great and not black at all. A friend had used the product and I tried some, bought my own bottle and have been really impressed. The car is kept in a garage but so far it’s looking good two months on. ... show more

Absolutely like this product. Makes my Jeep look good. The only thing I didn’t like was the spray nozzle kept breaking. I will buy this again
