We got this two years ago for our California King bed. It's been pretty good all along. I just washed and dried it at the laundromat - it needed an extra large front loading washing machine. The two photos show it on our living room floor drying out the last of the dampness. The photo with the ruler shows the height of the loft with gentle pressure from my hand, it's at 1.5 inches. Without pressure all the baffles are about 2.5-3 inches, which is pretty good. The pros: The baffles have held up well, and they are on a diagonal which we feel doesn't compress like linear baffels do. The outer fabric did not rip or tear at all throughout the past 2 years and we suspect it will hold up for years to come. For the price, this is worth it. The cons: It can be warm sometimes and not as cool as we'd like, but that's generally only on humid summer nights. It's never as warm as sleeping on a foam topper, so it's a pro and a con. The middle baffles stick up more than the ones we sleep on and that shows as a bump under our bedspread. Although we ordered a CA King, it does not cover our bed as a CA King should. We got a new mattress and honestly didn’t love it. After a few days of poor sleep, we bit the bullet and decided to order this topper and I am so glad we did!! It saved us the hassle of returning our mattress. It’s soft, without being too soft, if that makes sense. It’s perfect!

I have a very supportive, made in the USA, organic bed that I love for my back because it provides support for my herniated discs but it still was too firm for my hips. Three years ago, I purchased this topper out of a need to take a medium-firm independent coil bed to a plush bed. It took a solid week for my body to adjust but then it was Heaven for 2.5 years. I have tried others, both fiber and foam, and they did go flat or softened where I slept within 6 months, leaving the big dip. At 2 years, I did notice that my bed looked a little lumpy when it was made up in the morning but as long as I slept pain free, I didn’t care. After 2.5 years, my back began to hurt again. My mattress is still in excellent shape, so I’m back to reorder a new pad in hopes to get back to my pain-free happy place. I reordered last month it the new one came with a small tear so I am reordering. I like this pad because of the quality and thickness. It fits my deep mattress and the cover that goes around the sides isn’t flimsy. The bamboo top is soft and substantial and the pad itself didn’t bunch, was thick, and washed well in a commercial washer and dryer. When I initially received it, I put it in my dryer to fluff it back up from packaging and put it directly on the mattress. I add a super-thin flexible waterproof barrier and a fitted sheet to the top and I’m good to go. It adds a solid 1-1.5” of loft to my bed and just the right amount of cushion where it’s definitely noticeable but not like a 3” foam slab that you can’t roll over in. For reference, I do sleep in one place all night. If you are the type of sleeper that utilizes the whole bed, the wear pattern might be lessened. Because I have a back problem, getting the sleeping surface I need has to be exacting and the compacting areas might not bother anybody else without lumbar issues. I wish it lasted even longer but compared to the others that developed noticeable dips after 6 months, I’ve come to the conclusion that even if I replace it every 2 years, it’s a cheap price to pay for sleeping comfortably. If the price goes higher, I’ll try adding towels under the low spots, but for now, I’ll replace it. ... show more

Where to begin. Both the spouse and I have back problems. Me scoliosis, his arthritic back from years of lifting weights in the gym. For years I shopped around for the perfect bedroom furniture and finally came across the "set of my dreams," tucked in the corner of an obscure furniture store. Ohh, I was excited! Mahogany, gorgeous, exactly matching my taste. I was so excited I forgot one thing, I should have purchased the mattress at a speciality store where I could focus on our back problems. Well you know what they say, you have a bad back, get a firm mattress. So that is what I did. I picked out a firm mattress from the furniture store which was a bad idea, a really bad idea. This firm wasn't firm, it was more like concrete. We have had nothing but miserable nights for years. I tried a 2" foam topper, then a 3", then a 4" foam topper. Hah! It was adding insult to injury. I did not realize how unyielding a form topper would be on a concrete mattress. When winter rolled around, things went from bad to worse. The stupid memory foam topper had no memory, just Alzheimer's. The only thing it had memory for was being harder, colder and more miserable during the cold months. I wanted to set my bed on fire. Sigh. And so we suffered on. I almost gave in and purchased a "Numbered" bed, you know the company name, starts with an S. We tested them out and I was ready to plunk my money down for a good night's sleep to the tune of $7+K (discounted $1,000 for the holidays.) What really did me in was the price of the sheets to fit that speciality split bed. $250+ for a price of king-sized sheets!!! Are you kidding??? I love having many, many sets of sheets to change with my moods. I'm feeling peachy this week, a little green the next, and so on. But $250+ for one set!!!! Come on, one king sized mattress and an adjustable frame, I get the price, but 1 (one) lonely, sheet set to the tune of how much????? Nope, couldn't do it. Frustrated, I finally remembered that I used to have a feather bed topper, it was nice and comfy but the feathers kept escaping and poking me a night. I figured I would give this Bamboo Topper a try as a last ditch effort. Hallelujah! Winner-winner, chicken dinner! Oh, it feels so good. I felt comforted, my shoulder and hip bones finally had a place to go while my back still felt supported. No more tossing and turning for the right spot. I finally no longer see my bed as the enemy. My hubby is a back sleeper, I sleep on my side, we are both very happy. Zzzzzz If you have a hard bed that you hate, despise, loathe, try this topper on for size. It has been a week, and we really are in love with this topper. I how have a problem with not wanting to leave the bed to go to work in the mornings. I'd rather have that problem than the problem of despising my bed. So, so comfy, zzzz... I will update my review if I have any other additional comments in the future. ... show more
