I rarely review anything. Something has to be either extremely bad or substantially better than everything else for me to write a review. Which leads me to this charger. It works. It's the only charger that works with my aftermarket face mask/pad/interface/whatever. It was a little fussy trying to find the angle to get it to charge, but once I figured it out, which did take a few minutes, I can do it on the first or second try every time.

It's no secret this is designed for the stock Quest 3. It says it in the description and outlines all the issues if you’re not. You DO need to have the center of balance be absolutely perfect for the HMD to properly sit on the charging pins. It's a very delicate balance. The description suggests books under the headphones for 3rd party elite straps. I'm not sure that's a very practical way to make it work. There's multiple reasons why. But I've gotten the Kiwi Elite strap to properly balance with a couple of wood blocks that I place under the back (as shown in the pictures). To get the height needed, I basically held the Quest in the position needed for proper equilibrium, then marked how high the blocks would need to be to hold it at that height. This is obviously YMMV depending on how long/what angle your straps are at. The headset seems to charge at the same quick rate as the stock charger. I've found the controllers aren't nearly as quick as the description suggests. But even if they're not the quickest chargers, Q3 controllers sip power anyways. So it's not an issue in reality. It's not the most elegant solution, but it's a fraction of the cost of the official solution. So if you're a bit creative, you can get it to work on 3rd party straps. There's just a very tiny margin of error to get the balance perfect (and it needs complete balance to work). I think it would have been nice if the whole thing would have been a bit larger. But it's serviceable and doesn't break the bank.

i tried so many different positions and the only way that this thing worked was to take off the head strap completely... and even then it was hard to line up the pins-- its definitely not for someone who just wants to set it down after a session and forget it until the next day-- because it probably didnt charge...
