My previous Char-Broil Tru-Infrared Grill lasted over 20+ years, with three infra red pans and three sets of burners. It finally died when the non-stainless steel parts disintegrated from the heat. The kids are grown and this 2 burner grill is a nice replacement for Nana and Papa. Assembly was a challenge, I'm good at this stuff, but similar parts without numbers and a poorly illustrated guide took more hours to read than assemble. Amazon should revise their choice of photos and remove the picture showing the tent shape heat deflector, because it doesn't exist. Also, unlike my previous unit, the conversion to natural gas doesn't require a natural gas orifice replacement, just remove the LP orifice. Once assembled, the start-up is quick, the heat is even, and I use the illuminated dial to remind me to turn off the burners once finished cooking. Otherwise, they are pretty, but non-essential. Finally, I bought a cover: a SunPatio 2 Burner Grill Cover 32 Inch for $23.99, just to keep the rain, dirt, and bird mess off the stainless dome. ... show more

Assembly was fairly easy. It does take 2 for the final steps. I grilled cowboy pork chips, steaks and a rack of ribs so far. The 1 inch thick rare steak took 5 minutes total. The medium took 6. The 1 1/2" cowboy porkchop took 24 minutes on low heat. The rack of baby backs took about 20 minutes on medium low heat. Done to perfection. Everything juicy and tender on the inside and seared necely on the outside. Cleanup is a breeze. Just set the grill to burn off the grease and food particles left after cooking. I’ve been using this grill for a couple weeks now and it’s working very well. Its relatively easy to assemble and regulates the temperature for cooking very well. It’s easy to clean and has a tool to help you clean the ceramic infrared parts. I’m very happy with it. Now, for full disclosure, the two side panels were dented and it was missing some parts, but I called Char-Grill and had replacements in two days; it was worth the wait. Assembly was a little challenging, following the instructions, as some of the parts aren’t clearly identified. The media could not be loaded. I have always had luck with this grill and it cooks very evenly. I did notice a small smell of gas back in November when I bought it but it went away. But I just used it and when I finished I didn’t turn the tank off and when my windows went to put in in garage, gas filled the neighborhood. I immediately went out and disconnected the gas and checked it out the next day, it seems to be coming from the gage that detects how much gas is in the tank. Lucky, I saved the one off my last one and was able to use the grill for a burger yesterday. Please be careful and check that gage, we got lucky. otherwise it cooks very good and I would buy another but prefer a drip pan in at as my original had. ... show more

    • An Awesome State of the Art Gas Grill

It almost feels as if I've added a gas powered range (sans oven) to my deck. Turn on the gas, turn the dial, press the ignition switch, and 10-15 minutes later, I'm grilling up a storm! The infrared heat technology is awesome and, because it means that the flame is not exposed, I feel a whole lot safer using it on my deck, which is tiled but has wooden railings and is awning covered. Love the fold away side "tables" and the warming shelf, which perfectly toasts hamburger buns, rolls, buns, garlic bread, etc. Overall, this is a highly efficient, great looking and decently priced gas grill. My only real critique is the lack of text in the instructions. The concept of all illustrated instructions is great because of their universality but there are at least a couple, which I found to be too small or not quite clear enough to easily understand.
