With Mixes On Exit, save water, concentrate, AND effort with a quick connect concentrate tank that sits atop the traditional water tank. You can also finely adjust the flow for maximum performance, and easily switch from spot spraying to boom spraying. A removable filter that sits right under the cap prevents debris from entering the tank when pouring your mix. As an added benefit the poly spray wand contains a lock on/off feature. Sprayer works great but the hitch is flimsy bends easily. I Sprayer on flat ground but it was bumpy and it bent the hitch and I was able to bend it back by hand but it bent again im going to have to reinforce it somehow.

    • No Pump
I made a grave mistake and stored away the box with the sprayer. When I got it out a year later to assemble it and use it, the there was no wheeled cart to go with it (don't go by the picture, go by the description) and there was no pump in the box. I am going to end up buying the cart and the pump separate!โ€ฆ a year and a half laterโ€ฆ Chaplin sent me all the missing parts and I have a fully working and fully functional sprayer at no extra cost. ... show more

    • Great concept but has some drawbacks

Mixes on exit solves the problem of having a big tank to clean after each usage. Putting together the unit took some time. There are three sets of instructions, one for the trailer, one for the sprayer and one for the boom. No overall instructions. For the most part the instructions were fairly clear with some exceptions. There is no orientation for the tank attached to the frame. Easy to miss this and you won't notice until you try to attach the boom bracket. I had no problem with the other parts. There is an adjustment for the hitch height. I powered up my unit with water in the tank and the chemical tank and promptly found some hoses that needed tightening. One green nozzle had a bend and wasn't spraying properly. I haven't received a replacement yet. Using the unit offers some complexities and I found the manuals of little use. There are two sets of nozzles with no explanation on the use case for each. There are no examples on how you might achieve the proper application rates for a specific solution. There are no examples on how you might need to dilute something in the chemical tank to achieve the proper application rate. There are no examples on the recommended speed. For example, one fertilizer recommended to spread at 2-4 OZ at a minimum of 2 gallons of water every 1000 SQ feet. I think some examples would help. As another stated, the hitch will bend if you have a full 25 gallons of water going down a hill. I have the hitch adjusted for a level ride but going down a small hill will put to much pressure on the thin hitch unit. There should be a hook or strap for the wand hose. Will call Chapin to discuss these issues. I do believe this unit will work but it will take some time to develop the right recipes for certain sprays and to work out a few issues with the sprayer. I may update my review after more usage. ** Update 10/2 ** Removing a star. Support has failed to provide the correct replacement part 3 times. As previously noted one green nozzle had a bend and wasn't spraying properly. I called Chapin support and they promptly sent a replacement. However, instead of a green nozzle they sent a new set of blue nozzles. Called support again, they apologized said they would have to send the whole assembly. This time I received a single long tube :(. Again, called support, they apologized. I gave them the part number again. And again they sent the wrong part, two mixer assemblies for some other type of sprayer. *** Update on 6/19 Tires are really cheap. They show they are rated to 50 PSi. Inflated one to 50 PSI and it blew out while I was filling it. I filled the second one to 35 PSI. 5 minutes later it blew out. ... show more

    • Good sprayer for large areas
I use this sprayer for weed and feed of 5 acres of pasture grass. Also has a spray wand for spot spraying. Does a good job. You need to take some time to adjust it because it uses the mix on exit method but you don't have to clean the tank out every time you change chemicals. Great product.

DON"T BUY THIS SPRAYER UNLESS YOU PLAN ON BECOMING A CHAPIN REPAIRMAN. I own multiple properties and each has it's share of Chapin products that I've been very happy with. I have other Chapin tank sprayers but the thought of having the concentrates in a separate tank and having it mix with the water in the large tank was a HUGE selling feature. The sprayer arrived in a large box totally wrapped in tape as if it had been opened. Fortunately the FedEx guy was equally concerned so we cut it open. It comes in 3 more boxes including the trailer the boom and the tank. EACH has it's own manual and separate assembly instructions. Why a large company like Chapin couldn't put together ONE cohesive manual casts some doubt on the company. Regardless, after an hour or so it was all assembled and ready for testing. The diverter valve that switches from the boom to the hand sprayer failed immediately and wouldn't shut off either. A phone call to Chapin and a week or more later (despite being promised accelerated shipping) and I had the whole assembly. After removal and replacement of the components the diverter worked the way it should have out of the box. The next issue is the clear tubing from the concentrate tank to the mixer kinks very easily with the route it takes to the mixer valve. I added food coloring to my concentrate just to make sure it was being syphoned to the mixer. Honestly, it's just a crappy design and Chapin should be embarrassed. Now to the mixer itself. No idea if it works in the ratio it has on the dial or not. I took it apart and still have no idea how it's supposed to work. The only true method of testing is to measure the amount of concentrate and water you start with. Spray for awhile and recheck. All I know for now is that the herbicides I normally use don't seem to be performing using the ratios on the mixer. This is a great concept but really poor execution. Chapin claims it's built in the USA but if this is the best we can do we're heading in the wrong direction. Update 6/25/20 Lowered stars from 3 to 2. Went to use sprayer to discover all the water had leaked from the tank through the supplied plastic cap. Tried to tighten but couldn't stop leak. Replaced with brass cap (see pic) from my local Ace. Wondering where the problems will stop. Update 9/28/20 Mixing valve seems to be defective. Unit is spraying mix really well but not at the ratios on the dial. Called support and they are sending a new one. For those reviews that state that there is no support they are simply not telling the truth. I have been using Chapin sprayers for years and customer support is outstanding even during COVID Update 10/9/20 Chapin support is great until you get to the shipping of replacement parts. The mixing valve was shipped relatively quickly but arrived loose in a box with no protection and was broken. Called back and customer service answered quickly and was eager to replace the broken part but now their mantra is DUE TO COVID we can't ship for 2-3 weeks which is absolutely pure BS. DUE TO COVID is now code for we're really not that great of a company in the first place. Update 10/22/20 I have now replaced the mixing valve for a 3rd time. While Chapin customer support is happy to send out parts the company should not be selling this product. Over the past 3 months I have repaired, tinkered with and tested this sprayer. I just finished a 2-3 hour test-a-thon using very precise measurements in the water tank and product tank. I can tell you with GREAT CERTAINTY the mixing valve is worthless. Starting at #3 ( oz per gallon) and going all the way up to 6 oz per gallon the only repeatable measurement I could get was that #6 tested at 4 oz per gallon several times in a row. All the other settings were all over the place and nowhere close to what Chapin represents. #3 tested at 2.28 oz per gallon and then at 1.42 oz per gallon.     • So Far So Good
It took less than an hour to assemble the sprayer. It was missing one hardware bag but a phone call to Chapin fixed that. For storage I take the spray bar off and secure it on top of the tank. I substituted wing nuts to make this easier. It would be much better if the spray bar was hinged both for storage and in case of getting too close to an obstruction. My only other complaint is lack of organization for all of the hoses. My solution is short bungee cords but for the price they could have thought this through and provided for it. So far I have used it for weed control, bug control, fertilizer, liquid lime and for watering the lawn. ... show more
