Top Amazon Reviews

πŸš€ Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The reviews are mixed for the 25-gallon Chapin tank sprayer with a 2.2gpm pump. While many appreciate its conceptual design, especially the ability to switch concentrate tanks, several users complain about execution flaws. They've experienced issues with a leaky pump housing, a low set drain plug, leaky plastic caps, improper automatic mixture ratios, as well as concerns about the overall product durability.

Pros

  • πŸ‘ Good concept behind the product, particularly liked was the mix-on-the-go feature.
  • πŸ‘ Has the ability to switch concentrate tanks, which users find convenient.
  • πŸ‘ A few users reported satisfactory usage, with routing functions working fine.

Cons

  • πŸ‘Ž Several users reported problems with the pump housing leaking.
  • πŸ‘Ž There were complaints about the drain plug being set too low, raising concerns about possible future damage.
  • πŸ‘Ž The plastic caps for the drain plug and hose attachment to the pump was found to be weak and leaky.
  • πŸ‘Ž Many users had trouble with the automatic mixture ratio, leading to inefficient usage of concentrates.

Should I Buy It?

Given the mixed reviews, potential buyers should proceed with caution. While some users have had positive experiences, a significant number of customers experienced issues related to leakage, pump design, and mixture ratios. If you're willing to possibly do some tweaking and fixing, or if these issues don't concern you, the product could be a good fit. Otherwise, it may be worth considering other options.

  • Quality built. Works as advertised.
Size: 25-Gallon
The Chapin 25 gallon sprayer is very well built, easy to assemble and works as advertised. I really like the mix on exit feature as I never need to worry about flushing the main tank since its only water. The chemicals are in the separate tank. I bought 2 tanks for the different chemicals I use. Only complaint on an otherwise quality unit is the drain plug cap is plastic and doesn't seal well. I put a brass cap with some teflon tape on it for a better fit. Not a big deal. Functionally it sprays a decent even pattern. I tested the pattern down my driveway to confirm coverage. Very good unit. Would recommend to anyone. ... show more

  • I love this thing !
Size: 25-Gallon
Mix on exit ... genius! No more contaminating the area around the shop cleaning tanks. Fill one tank with water Fill the other with Roundup Set the mix valve and go! My poison tank is 1/6th the size of the water tank so it saves loads of time batch mixing .. just fill the water and get back at it !

  • Does the job and Chapin provided good customer support
Size: 25-Gallon
I bought the 25 gallon mix on exit sprayer to spray the weeds on our acre lot. It worked well the first day I used it, but the pump started acting up the second day and would not shut off when the correct pressure was reached. The pump over pressurized the system and caused things to start leaking from various fittings. I called Chapin and they sent me the necessary replacement parts to resolve the issue. So far things have been fine with the new pump. ... show more

  • Please read before purchasing and save your money...
Size: 25-Gallon
7/24/20- update... I have now used this several times and have tried every setting to adjust the flow of the poison to mix appropriate. I am using just basic round up in the mix tank but it still does not mix the proper ratio. I now have it set to setting 7 which is approx 15oz per gallon. I sprayed 25 gallons of water and the mix tank only distributed approx 10-15oz. I just cannot get this system to work and would strongly advised against purchasing one. You can save money and headache by just buying a standard tank and manually mixing. I have also made multiple calls to the company and they have been of no assistance. They did ship me a new mixing valve (that didn’t work) and after calling back with results, I was told there is nothing else they know to do. I have lowered this review to 1 star because not only is the product faulty, but service was no better. I normally do not write negative reviews because I understand that there can be a lemon in every bunch. I will start with saying, the idea behind this product is outstanding. I was attracted to the idea of switching out the concentrate tanks without having to clean the main tank each time. This idea of auto mixing was great, but the execution is not good and that leads me into the remaining part of this review. I am not saying to not buy this product because for some it may work just fine, however for me and my situation it does not and here is why. The initial setup is fairly easy with minimal screw connections. I do recommend you check or tighten every screw and hose adapter as mine seem to all be loose. Even after my first round of tightening the connections, I still had several leaks from different areas. I was finally able to get it all leak free but not before lots of dissassembly and reassembly. After I got it all setup, I filled my concentrate tank with two gallons of generic round up and 25 gallons of water in the main tank. I sprayed my entire property and emptied the water tank which should have lowered my concentrate tank by at least 2/3rds considering i was on a 3/oz per gallon ratio. My concentrate tank remained nearly full. I could tell the it was pulling poison in to mix, just not at the right ratio. I disassembled every component, cleaned and checked all hoses for kinks and other issues and could find none. I called Chapin and the lady kindly sent me an entire new mix valve and hoses to try. After assembly of the replacement valves I attempted it all again. Again, the same thing happened that all the water was sprayed but still a fairly full tank of poison. I called Chapin again and the lady I spoke to said she has heard of this before with round up and other thicker liquids than water and that there is a email they can send that helps "recalibrate". The instructions as as follows... MOE ATV testing instructions 1. Fill water tank about half way with water 2. Fill chemical tank with chemical you wish to use – tighten cap 3. Turn on unit and adjust flow to optimize and remove any air in the lines (spray into a bucket or an area that is OK with the chemical) 4. Turn off unit 5. Remove the chemical tank and weigh it – record weight in pounds 6. Re-attach chemical tank 7. Set dial to desired setting 8. Turn unit back on 9. Spray into 1 gallon container like a milk container until full 10. Re-weigh chemical tank – record weight in pounds 11. Subtract this 2nd weight from 1st weight - this is the amount of chemical in pounds used in 1 gallon 12. Take this value and multiple by 16 to get ounces/gallon 13. If this value is not desired turn the dial to a higher or lower number and repeat So after many assemblies and disassemblies, 50+ gallons of water in trial, hours spent spraying and working on the unit. I cannot say this is worth purchasing. I feel I would have been better spending my money on a regular tank without all the things attached that will fail. Even though this seems to have a good pump and sprays a good stream, the same can be said for cheaper sprayer pump setups from your local stores. I highly recommend reading other reviews listed on here as I experience the same issues and more. I am not mad by any means, just disappointed this product is not working as described. I really wish it worked as it would make life so much simplier. Again, I wish the best for Chapin and this product, but I will not be a return customer and will end up just pouring my mixing solution in the main tank and using it as any other tank design. If anything changes in the future, I will edit this post to reflect the changes. **for all the people out there that will say to just turn the dial to a higher ratio, while this might work, I for one, do not think I should have to do that when spending $200 for a product that is supposed to do it for me, and two, I do not want to "test" ratio mixes with my concentrate that is not cheap. ... show more

  • Good buy.
Size: 25-Gallon
I have an acre and a half of property, my house sits on the half acre and I have desert landscaping. I was getting tired of using the one gallon sprayer. So I bought this. I read the reviews and when the product was delivered the box was in pretty bad shape, but when I opened the box the sprayer tank, and everything that was inside was in perfect condition. I assembled the 25 gallon tank, after flushing it out. Assembled the motor/pump and separate chemical tank together and put it on the trailer. connected the wiring harness. I went through and made sure all connections were tightened smartly (An actual term) put water in the 25 gallon tank, Ground clear in the chemical tank and attached the clips to the 12 volt battery and primed the pump . It is working perfectly. ... show more

  • This is a game changer
Size: 25-Gallon
This new Chaplin spraying system is a game changer in every respect. The chemical tank is separate from the water tank, so it injects chemical at whatever concentration you need without contaminating the water tank. The chemical tanks basically snap on and off easily. I’m currently using 2 chemical tanks. One tank for a broad spectrum weed killer and another solution tank for a weed killer that I can spot spray my lawns with without having to dump and completely decontaminating the the water tank. It’s awesome and no more worries about how much chemical to mix at a time. Note: If you buy the 7’ boom attachment, be sure to order the hose that feeds it. These are two separate accessories that should be sold as a kit, but are sold separately. ... show more
