This spreader does the job, but to be honest, it is not as easy to set the open/ close gate as the Earthway 2750. The Earthway has an adjustable stopper that you just slide the arm and hook on stopper. The Chapin relies on having notches that the user has to count which notch to hook into. I've been doing plots for a while so I actually just spread seed by feel more than setting, but the Earthway seems easier. This spreader is cheaper though, so it's able to be overlooked for the savings. I'm waiting to see how it holds up because I normally only get a little more than a year out of other brands. If this lasts longer than that, I will undoubtedly be purchasing more of the Chapin spreaders. ... show more

It works. I just wish the sides of the bag were a bit more rigid. I recommend being careful when filling. If not careful, the sides will fold in and/or down and you'll spill your seed or Fertilizer. But regardless I still prefer this over the walk-behind spreaders.

Screw to attach baffle had no slots in the head, but after I found a replacement it worked great for my wildlife food plot. Would highly recommend for spreading small seed over large areas.

You crank with the right hand. Left hand controls the amount of product. Your left hand is all by feel and guess work after you shut down and start up again. There’s no good way to solve this unless you rig up some type of stopper. Also wear gloves, the product hits your right hand with every rotation. It works but poor design in my opinion. ... show more

This product is a step up from the old style. Figure out how to attach the straps so it’s the most comfortable for you and load it up and go. I don’t think you can put 25 pounds of seed in it, but you can certainly put enough to get a large area done. I suggest you walk with your thumb or fingers on the flow rate slider and move it back-and-forth as you need to.
