Description

Avoid spills and extra clean up with Chapin’s 78005 12-quart (11.4-liter) oil drain pan. With its low profile, it easily slides under most ATV’s, tractors, lawn mowers, motorcycles and other vehicles with low clearance (less than 5-inches tall). Used oil needs to be recycled properly and we make it less of a chore. The large target area gives you plenty of space for splash-free collection, the tank is leak free and the built-in handles make it easier to carry. Use it to drain oil, coolant and other additives. Made in the USA with 80% recycled plastic.

  • Low Profile No Spill
Great product, very easy to use, big catch area, low profile, no spills transporting used oil

  • Good Quality & Value
I purchased this drain catch earlier this year when I began getting into performing most routine maintenance on my vehicles, and I have had a good experience thus far. In hindsight, I might have chosen to purchase a drain catch that had a greater depth than the depth of the initial catch pan; when changing coolant, the low depth of this catch pan resulted in more splashing than one with greater depth might have. But, overall, I am still satisfied with my purchase. The drain pan is durable and makes it very easy to store caught fluid as needed and to also transfer the fluid to other containers as needed. When empty, the catch is very light and is very easy to store while taking up little space. Overall, I would recommend this drain pan although I might wish that the depth of the pan was slightly greater. ... show more

  • Almost Perfect Low-Profile Hero for My Subaru's Tight Squeeze – Just a Tiny Quirk
As a Denver-based Subaru owner with a lowered yellow rocket (that still scrapes on everything), I live for low-clearance solutions. This Chapin 78005 Low Profile 12 Quart Oil Drain Container is basically the Batman of oil pans – it slides under vehicles with less than 5 inches of ground clearance like it was born for the job. At just ~4.6 inches tall, it fits where my old tall drain pan laughed and said "nope." Key wins that make it a 4-star champ: Low profile magic – Slides effortlessly under my Impreza without jacking it up extra high. No more awkward tilting or praying the oil hits the pan instead of the driveway. Huge 12-quart capacity – Handles a full Subaru boxer drain (usually 5-6 quarts) with room for coolant flushes or whatever else you're bleeding out. Eco bonus – Made from 100% recycled polymer in the USA. Feels good knowing my oil changes aren't adding to the landfill apocalypse. Smart design – Large catch area prevents splash-back, built-in handles make carrying the sloshy mess way easier, and the whole thing feels sturdy and leak-free when stored upright. Here are a couple of real-world tips from someone who's done too many oil changes in a snowy driveway: Position it carefully the first time – the rectangular shape is great for wide coverage, but aim the drain plug right over the center to avoid any edge overflow (hot oil is no joke). When pouring out, go slow on the spout – it's smooth, but with 12 quarts full, momentum can turn you into an abstract artist on your garage floor. Store it empty and upright; the material holds up great, but don't let old oil sit forever. The only reason it's not 5 stars? The spout/pour area could be a hair larger or have a better anti-drip lip for when you're emptying into recycling jugs – I had a minor dribble once when rushing. Not a deal-breaker, just that last 10% of perfection. Overall, if you own a low-slung car, motorcycle, ATV, or mower and hate spills, this is the pan you want. It saved my sanity (and my concrete) on the latest oil change. Highly recommend – especially for us Subie folks who refuse to lift the car sky-high every time. Vine Customer Review of Free Product (but I'd happily buy this again... and probably will for the garage backup). Here are a few pics of this low-profile beast in action – see how flat it sits and how easily it fits under low cars! ... show more

  • Great Design, Made In USA
I didn't really think much of it before, but with some of the cheaper oil pans I've used it can be hard to pour the oil out in a controlled way when full. The handle placement on this one (angled top handles + bottom) is well thought-out and actually makes sense to help with that. The ridges to hold and drain your oil filter is a neat idea. Aside from that it just does the job it is made for. ... show more

  • Change that oil, fool!
Chapin seems to make some really stout stuff, this drain pan is no exception. The plugs? Chunky! With an o-ring to seal it! Way WAY higher quality than those parts store pans,

  • Perfect size to leave around for a bit before needing to empty.
Haven't used yet, but seem to be pretty well robust and a perfect size to drain the oil later. One thing to note it did have a few plastic bits that came out from inside. Reccomend checking before filling.

  • Clean oil change
The biggest risk of making a mess with oil change is dropping in pan and splash. The only thing to worry about with these is getting them completely out of the way before backing of ramp.
