The hip part is about an inch narrower when compared to the old ones for the same size. The tag has scratchy corners which are irritating on your skin. In the past, the drawstring on these was a string that wrapped around inside the elastic band. The issue with the design was the drawstring could be pulled out from one of the holes. The design was changed to sew the middle of the drawstring in the back, however, that has caused a weak point where the drawstring now breaks and the shorts become useless. Pretty good for cheap shorts. Nice bang for the buck. Size runs a bit small, order one size bigger because they should fit baggy. Cloth is a bit thick but not too hot. The older version of these shorts had a waist band that was "self lined" meaning that the inside of the waist band was the same material as the shorts. These have the elastic material right against the skin. I prefer the older style. They are perfectly functional, however, so I'm fine using them, I just won't order this style again. ... show more

Been wearing these for 40 years and they still have the same quality and comfort. I prefer the feel of cotton rather than synthetic; these are soft, roomy, and comfortable. Champion's quality fabrics and stitching make them last longer than el cheapo brands.
