I wasn't sure how these would work but wanted to give them a try never having buffed my nails before. They are either covered in polish or left naked, dull and plain. If only putting on a clear coat, there have been times the polish has yellowed and looked HORRIBLE. So I bought these wonderful little blocks in purple, green and white, and I chose the larger, longer version and am so happy I did. The higher number of grit on these things is important. Many options offer grit combos in the hundreds. These, offer the 1000 and 4000 sides that will get you where you really want your buffing to be. I'm learning. The LOWER the number, the coarser the grit. I always thought it was the other way around. One thing that's really important, though. If you don't take the time to remove all "ridging" from your nails using the 1000 grit side (in my case the "green" side of the buffer block), you will never be able to let the 4000 grit side (the fine, white side) do its job in allowing yourself to buff them to a noticeable shine. You need a smooth surface first to get to a glassy one. The end result is subtle but evident and natural, and I'm thrilled! It takes a little time, but that's what watching TV is for, if you're willing to do two things at once. Now I won't have to worry about a dull, lackluster natural, naked nail, a potential yellowing clear coat, or staining of my nails from various, often rich or darker polishes I often will use (even with a basecoat applied first). And the little block I used to prep and shine these puppies up still looks brand new, so I believe these things are probably built to last for quite some time. Give them a try...you just might end up as pleasantly surprised as I am. (Photos are before after and closeup)

I love these! The small size is fantastic. I have psoriatic arthritis so I worried using something so small might be hard. Nope, it's great! I recently quit biting my nails, a habit of over 20 years. Most who bite their nails do it because we cannot stand it when we get a little nick or any imperfection in the nail surface. So I bought some fantastic glass filesvand soon realized it wasn't enough. I need a gentle buffer for my edges to be smoothed out. These little guys are perfect for the finishing touch. I use them on the ends of my nails after filling or sometimes to just fix a rough edge. They're quite handy being so small to keep them in multiple places, purse, bedside table, near back door (I frequently spend time outside so I keep one handy near my back door so I can file/buff in the daylight!) Do be careful not to buff your entire nail too much as it weakens them. These do work for that purpose I just wouldn't do too much. (I went to manicurist school at 16, but never worked doing nails. I do recall everything I was taught about Natural nails as that's what I was good at.) Also only buff in one direction NOT BACK AND FORTH on NATURAL NAILS!! It's very important to only go in one direction. You may change direction but in a seperate move as back and forth damages Natural nails. Anyway I love these little buffers! I do not think they work as well after cleaning. However you get 50 for 8 bucks so that's an okay value!

The shape of this nail buffer is very unique. That's what makes it so effective for my needs. It's very easy to hold & gets around corners & up to edges like no others I have tried. My nails are so smooth & shiny now they look a though I just came from a salon!
