  • Great

Love the rough surface for difficult nails.

The boards were the correct grit and sturdy. I would prefer 180 grit on both sides but if the option is not available I will probably order these again.

  • Both sides of my nail files have the same grit 180 only.
Size: black-180/240Grit
I just finished comparing one of the Nail files from the pkg that I had ordered last month (I purchased a 10 pk of the 180/240 grit sticks myself and realized pretty quickly something wasn't quite right with them). Just a little about me. I am a mechanic by trade and worked for the City of Los Angeles for 31 years until I retired a year ago. I have personal experience using abrasives for well over 40 years. Anyhow, while out in my garage this evening, I decided to dig through my tool box, gathering up some samples of my Various grits of Silicon Carbide, Aluminum Oxide and Garnet paper sheets. I then located new sheets of each,180 grit and 240 grit for comparison. I can honestly say its definitely not garnet paper, and I don't believe it's Aluminum oxide either. I let my eyes and fingers compare them carefully. If you can't see and feel an obvious difference between the two sides of your nail files, then you have nail filing sticks with 180 grit Silicon Carbide paper on it. The difference is enough for most to identify. It's possible that there was a bad batch, or maybe these are seconds. The product I received, with markings on one side only. MAKRATT (180/240). Didn't mean there is bonded 180 grit abrasive on one side and 240 grit abrasive on the other. So this is why I am disappointed. I just feel deceived. These days, you really have to read things thoroughly. I even believe that sometimes that isn't even enough. It's sometimes up to your interpretation. Imagine that verses the sellers. In my case, one side appears to have more of a very slight shine on it, than the other side. This by no means it is 240 grit. The manufacturer may have sprayed a clear sealant or some type of resin on it to give it a shine and appear to be different . It could have been done to try to fool us, or accidental, I certainly don't know why it was done, or even if it was intentional. It could even be that they are mixing 180 and 240 grit and adhering it onto the boards. The one side with the resin, shellac or some sort of sealant on it tends to feel a bit smother because the pores are ever so slightly filled with sealant and it also softened up the sharpness of the actual silicon carbide or whatever abrasive they are using on these nail files. I have been using various kinds and grits of sand paper, sanding discs, sanding belts and types of paste throughout my entire life since shop classes in Junior High School til just before I retired. Its used in many applications. In my case for metal (all types), plastics, wood, cured epoxies, removal of paint, oxidation (rust) all relating to prep and finish. Also used for deburring sharp edges and can be used for polishing too. The usages are virtually limitless in our industry. Abrasive compounds, whether they are bonded to a stick of some type(nail files), used to make grinding discs, it can even be in paste form as well as sheet form. I just never thought I'd see such an error in advertising. I had decided to keep mine as I like the coarseness, it allows for rapid removal of the finger or toe nail, but it isn't really good for finish by my standards. I like my nails smoothe and not feeling like they catch on clothing material or skin. I prefer a finer 240 grit board. I feel it's better suited to get the nails smother. Actually I even go as far on occasion to something close to 300 to 400 grit to finish them and buff nice and smooth. Actually I get whats available at the time for said finish. This is my opinion and personal preference. The files are good for initial material removal, but I wanted a combination nail sanding board with one side to remove nail material quickly and the other side to smooth down the roughness from the coarser 180 grit side of the board. With everything said, this was my only disappointment. I have since placed other orders with a different vendor of course, to get some less aggressive/smoother boards for finishing the job. Best of luck to you all. I just wanted to inform the end users that may have the same expectations that I did, when I placed my order of this product. ... show more
