  • Only had it for a few days but so far it’s good
I’ve only had it for a few days but so far the quality of the device is great. It’s just as easy to use as previous versions. I love that I can use a stylus on the touch screen now too. I briefly watched a show the other day and the sound quality was good. It wasn’t glitchy or having any trouble with buffering. The reading ability on the Fire 11 Max is great. I’m not noticing any trouble with it glitching when I try to turn pages or anything like that. All of the options for font, page background color, etc are still there too which makes me happy. I’m still kind of cranky about the app variety that is offered in the App Store but I think that’s more of an Amazon problem than a tablet problem. ... show more

  • Good
This is by far the best Kindle! To me it's just as good as the Samsung Galaxy s6 lite. I love the Aluminum frame case and the way it functions is buttery smooth. I haven't played games on it yet but I plan to install Google play store on it.

  • They "called their shot" then hit a ground rule double ...
In the 1932 world series, Babe Ruth pointed at the centerfield bleachers, calling his shot. He followed that up by nailing a home rum to center field estimated to be about 490 feet. History would have been far less kind to Ruth if, instead of hitting that home run, he hit a ground rule double. We all know that when tech companies make product announcements, they are calling their shot. They are pointing at the bleachers, telling the consumers it is their fastest processor ever, best memeory and refresh rates, yada, yada, yada. The Amazon Fire Max 11 was introduced as a new, premium "productivity" tablet from Amazon. They called their shot but instead of a home run, they hit a ground rule double. It is the absolute best fire tablet ever. I have owned all of them at one time or another, and the Fire Max 11 definitely feels like a premium product conpared to it's siblings. It has a metal case, the first for an Amazon tablet. It has a faster processor, but unfortunately the storage is little different from the current models available. It has an impressive screen, with crisp clear picture quality, and its weight does not make it unweildly. As a matter of fact, I find it to be quite pleasing to hold and read, but when you use the magnetic case and keyboard (which I think are amazing) the 5:3 screen feels very cramped, which limits the productivity aspect of the device. The greatest weakness of this device is the software. The Fire OS is designed around content consumption and that is where it excels. However, if you are trying to edit Word docs on the fly or do any in-depth productivity work, the Fire OS is not up to the task. After all, it is based on Android, which is a cell phone OS (and the latest Fire OS is ver 15, with ver 16 on the horizon, while the current version of Fire OS is based on Android 11). Sure, using Android makes the tablet very user-friendly, but when you are aiming for the premium/productivity market, it just isn't up to it. I have always believed that Amazon scrimped on software, and this is no different. Their heavy mods and their very limited Appstore choices further gimp what could have been a very respectable device. If I were able to wave a magic stylus and change this device, I would change the screen ratio so that it didn't feel so cramped in "productivity mode" (which is what I call using the keyboard). I would add the ability to use the stylus to annotate documents when reading in "reading mode" (portrait, handlheld mode). When it comes to content consumption, this tablet shines ... because it is first of all a content consumption device and not a productivity device. So in the final analysis, Amazon, you called your shot, and to your credit you didn't whiff, but you didn't hit the home run you intended. Take your base. ... show more

  • Fire tablet for travel
I had a very old iPad that wasn’t going to work for my travels. I didn’t want to invest that much money in another tablet when they become obsolete so quickly. This fire tablet has plenty of room, great Wi-Fi connection, and is going to be perfect for travel at a great price point.

  • Great Tablet But With A Learning Curve (Android Users)
I got the refirb model, so it was steeply discounted. It was almost brand new, and I really didn't know the difference. Its replacing a TCL tablet, I've had over 4 years. This Fire Tablet is nearly everything I hoped. I am a 10+ year android user, so there are a few apps not readily available. It's really not too big a deal, but I was disappointed that several were missing, Gmail, Chrome, Flipboard, and several others. It has most of the most popular apps like FB, X, TikToc, and music apps. There are ways to side load apps, but I haven't tried that yet. PERFORMANCE wise, the screens is vibrant, the apps load quickly, and I can get about 2 days of use out of the battery. I'm not costly using it, but overall its good. Build quality is premium. In your hands, its feel like a top tier device and NOT cheap. The speakers are good, but definitely not great. I was actually a bit disappointed in them. MY BIGGEST GRIPE is the power button. Maybe its my refirb model, but you really have to push it to turn it on or off. I find this very annoying that it's not a little more sensitive. I might need to see if there's a wake up with face recognition option, so I can avoid this issue. Other than that and the speakers, its an amazing device. It's great for Kindle and browsing your apps. Just be aware, not all of your usual android apps will be available in the Amazon App Store. That's definitely a bit disappointing for whatever reason. Overall, I love this tablet !!! ... show more
