When it comes to claw deflective material i have to admit that the clear plastic type seems to work the best. With this effective roll of preventative plastic from the Kdaoqn brand, i have found a brand i can trust. This is my second time trying out a clear protective type of material that deflects claws. I a happy with this roll because i can choose the length of the strips rather than having to deal with a pre cut approach which can also be nice bti for most of my areas i need this for i have to be able to select the amount being used. I used this in an interesting way. I kept a long sheet of this together rather than pulling it apart and wedged it up and over the sides of one of my free floating closets. I have a bunch of clothes, so i have several free floating closets because all of my regular closets are full. My new kitten Cosmic El Gato has been climbing up the sides via my garment bags because i place every piece of clothing except sleeping and athletic gear inside garment bags, and chilling out way up there. Not only do i not want her claws traveling through the garment bags to destroy the said garment being protected, i do not want her up there at all because it makes me nervous having any animal eight feet or so off the ground. The strip of this clear protective film i placed up there has worked wonder. No only does she now not have a place to dig in her claws; the whole heavy plastic material is off putting for her. That is what makes this so great is it works in two ways. It works in a psychological way as well as a physical barrier against claws.     • Not the Best Solution
These transparent sheets are best for a hard surface such as a door rather than a sofa. Because you have to cut and peel, then strategically align the plastic sheets, it is difficult to place on sofa when using more than one sheet. The sheets do not easily align next to one another when you press into soft furniture. We tried to prevent young cat from furniture with these however it did not work. For firm surface such as door or wall, we were concerned about long term aesthetic if we used on a door, then had to remove and paint would come off as well. ... show more

I didn't have much hope that this product would work, but I needed to try something again. My little adopted feral cat has been literally ripping my walls apart. He is much smaller than my older domestic cat, but pound for pound is stonger, more determined, and has no use for scratch posts or pads. He only uses the wooden walls of my cabin - probably because they are more bark-like, and is using his fishhook-like claws to literally rip them to shreds. I have tried other protection pads, but he just rips them apart and then goes back to his favorite walls. So I ordered this one due to the fact that is was designed for both cats and dogs, put it up in my cats favorite hangouts, and waited. It went up easy, was obviously thicker than others I have tried, and the sticky side was tighter. My little tiger went up to it, sniffed walked around, and then walked away! And has not scratched since. This works, and works well. OVERALL - Keeper! A friend is making a post out of a small tree trunk with bark for my little feral cat, so that he can get the exercise he needs. But these pads will stay put! ... show more

We have a male cat that loves to scratch doors and door frames and a female cat that loves to scratch the side of of our chaise (leaves the couch alone). This is an ongoing battle with them despite having scratching posts, cat towers, corrugated box scratchers and plenty of toys, attention and nail grooming. My husband and I just put in new doors and I wasn’t about to let our male cat ruin them, but I also wasn’t willing to have him declawed either. I was hoping the pet scratching protector would be the solution to our problem, and it was. We used it on the door, door frame and chaise. The plastic material comes in a roll which makes cutting it to the size you need much easier, and with less waste because you are covering only the areas you need. If you have a larger area to cover like furniture, you may want a couple extra hands because if you need to reposition it after it’s been applied, you may lose some stickiness, which is to be expected. The little tool that comes with it makes getting air bubbles out easily too. I love that it’s not noticeable, deters the cats from scratching because they don’t like the feel, but is also very cost effective. I highly recommend this product. ... show more

    • It stops claws, and it sticks where it needs to be, but only part of a solution
Two kittens, almost cats now... and they have the dumbs. Will they scratch the kitty scratcher? No. Got this originally to stop them scratching a purely ornamental post (cedar wood) that is in our kitchen. Cats saw it and decided the house has one giant scratching post and that's what it's going to be. Adhered this on the three sides that a cat can attack, they went higher... ok, I went higher. They went higher, I went higher. At six feet the aesthetic of the wood was effectively ruined and it looked like I had a plastic pole in the kitchen. My dog and cat both scratch up the window sills and the dog drools on them too. This works great to protect then and you can't even tell they are covered. It was really easy to cut to size and apply. I can't speak to removal though as I haven't tried yet.
