  • Perfect Gift for My Husband – Durable & Stylish Perfect Gift for My Husband – Durable & Stylish
Style: DW-H5600-1CR Color: Black
I bought the Casio Men’s G-Shock Move DW-H5600 Series for my husband, and he absolutely loves it! The watch is super sturdy — classic G-Shock durability — yet lightweight enough for everyday wear. He’s really impressed with the sleek design and clear digital display. It looks great whether he’s working out, running errands, or just out and about. The fitness tracking and app features are a nice bonus. The battery lasts anywhere from 2 days up to a week depending on usage, which is very convenient. Overall, it was the perfect gift. Stylish, functional, and built to last — he wears it all the time and couldn’t be happier. ... show more

  • Very Nice and Simple Watch with Heart Rate Monitor
Style: DW-H5600-1CR Color: Black
Quality build. Screen is small, but very high resolution. Some of the stock photos above don't do it justice. Just got my pre-ordered item tonight and tried out the features. Was just looking for a basic workout watch that had HRM and O2 sensor. Always have my phone with me, so GPS isn't really needed in the watch anymore. I used the newer, general "CASIO WATCH" app on Android as they appear to be phasing out the older CASIO MOVE app, etc. It worked well for registering, setting up, and updating the firmware on the watch. I saw complaints about the app in the app store, but so far so good here. One thing to note, the default view shown in the stock photos, where the time is in the middle and the HR is in the top right is not the default face. It is face #2 in the app, and I really like that, so switched to it right away. If I'm wearing this watch, I want to know what my HRM is. I plan to wear it at night for sleep monitoring, and while working out during the day. Not sure if I'll use all of the other "fitness" features, but as a watch and a heart rate monitor, it appears to be doing very well. The HRM seems more accurate than the chest strap I wore previously. If you don't want to pay a monthly fee for competing wrist-based heart rate monitoring, and just want a simple way to monitor your fitness without subscriptions, CASIO seems to have nailed it here. I'll report back after I've spent more time with the watch in the event that anything changes. Mine came fully charged, although this is a new release, so was probably just manufactured not to long ago. It appears that with the current version of the Android app, there is no integration with Google Fit, Strava, or other apps. Nor is there any ability to export walks or runs as .gpx files for use in other applications. Further, the HRM can only be seen by the watch, and the Casio app, so you won't be able to use this watch as an HRM with other apps unless that changes. ... show more

  • Great , not perfect Great , not perfect
Style: Sport Color: Dolphin Blue
Pros and cons Pro, comfortable, durable, great style Cons , the light only works with the light button so on the dark when scrolling modes you have to continue to turn on the light button or just turn on a light to shine on it, 2nd I switched from a garmin instinct and uses the music controls to switch songs and control volume on my phone, I rated this 5 stars because I like the watch and think it's great I would like to see some improvement maybe through the software updates they can figure a way to make the light work better with the watch There was a learning curve as well with this watch compared to the garmin which is much more user friendly, I really like the look and style plus ruggedness of this watch however may still end up using the garmin in some cases and this for more of a style watch even though the function is there , all just my opinion So I have to update this the newest software update, the light works with all buttons which is a major improvement ... show more

  • Nice watch, BAD software
Style: Sport Color: Dolphin Blue
This watch has the family design as a 5000 series G-SHOCK, and the MIP display is significantly better compared to traditional segmented LCD display in terms of viewing angle and capability. So if you 1) wants a G-SHOCK 2) that has superior readability 3) and has some solar charging capabilities, this seems to be the watch for you (so far). However, the software, especially the companion app on the phone, are TERRIBLE. After paring with my phone, it prompts me to upgrade the watch firmware. However, it failed! I tried again and again, and it just keep failing! It doesn't tell you why it failed, but only tell you that you should put it in time mode and charge it. I followed the FAQ and posts on reddit, and none of them help. At last, I leave the watch still overnight, and it finally let me upgraded. In my years of dealing with different kind of smart watch/band/wearables, this one is by far has the most notorious firmware upgrade experiences. I can't imagine if the person who wrote this has even tried to upgrade himself. The lack of instruction, and the deep buried troubleshooting documents just showcase that CASIO haven't are not even trying. And the watch software is somewhat weaker compared to traditional model in terms of feature. The stopwatch, for example, only has a precision of 1 second, which is laughable because even my phone can do 1/100 second precision. And it doesn't let you go back to the main screen when you're using the stopwatch, or any other feature. It's significantly lacking, even when compared to the software it build decades ago. Hopefully CASIO one day will fix that, because luckily this watch does have OTA capability, but I won't bet on that given this watch has been out for years and this is somehow still a problem. Overall, it has a good build, but don't expect Garmin/Apple/Amazfit type of strong software capability. The upcoming GW-BX5600 might even be a better watch. ... show more

  • Great G-Shock
Style: DW-H5600-1CR Color: Black
UPDATE: February 2025: Alas, retracting my recommendation - this thing has turned into a major disappointment. Told me it needed an update. Tried but could not connect to it. Restarted my iPhone 15 Pro Max several times. Turned bluetooth on and off several times. Simply will not connect. Can't update. Hopeless. Battery life has deteriorated. Solar capability is completely ineffective. My advice; Don't buy this thing. Save up and get a Garmin smartwatch. I'll likely go buy one of those next when I've gotten over the monetary burn of the H5600. Anyways, your mileage with this thing might vary but I am $300 poorer and won't be patronizing Casio any longer. Onward. PREVIOUS THOUGHTS Upon purchase. Full disclosure, I'm a G-Shock cult member. This is about my 4th G-Shock. I still have all the others. This one has a solar 'top-up' capability and the heart rate bpm monitor. 2 big selling points for me. It is not as big as one of my previous 'square-faced' G-Shocks but its still good and chunky. It does not hurt my wrist as all. Yes it does have a dirty big thingy stickin' out the back of it but so far I haven't experienced any discomfort. Maybe those that do should wear it a tiny bit looser on their wrists? Easy for me to say though, I have quite hairy forearms so perhaps that's why I can wear it loose and yet it stays in place. I'm docking it one star because of the BS about its battery life and because the solar top up capability seems weak to negligible. That is disappointing. Also, I'd like a dual time feature to be added. Nice to know what time it is in another country without having to futz with the phone app. I keep the heart rate monitor on 24x7 so this means I get about 6 days on a full charge. When are these companies gonna add more battery to their wrist straps? That WAS a thing some years ago -dunno what happened to it. Casio - please lead on that! Better yet, adjust the phone app with an additional option so I can specify I only want the heart rate monitor to be operable from say 7am thru 11pm. No use to me when I'm asleep and that would conserve a lot of battery. Otherwise I love it. Sure it's pricey but... I still recommend it. ... show more

  • Great choice for those that want a simple fitness watch.
Style: DW-H5600-1CR Color: Black
This watch is not for those looking for a smart watch replacement. This is a simple, durable, and basic watch. I didn't want another device to distract me while on runs or working out. I also think that Apple watches are too feminine. This is for a watch person that wants a tough but stylish tracker and heart monitor. I don't wear it everyday so the battery tends to last 3 to 4 weeks. It also managed to add battery life while on a long hike. The buttons are a little difficult to use and the app is very basic, but I'm okay with it. If you need more information and app quality is important, I would suggest getting a traditional smart watch. ... show more

  • A rare miss from Casio and a frustrating smartwatch experience A rare miss from Casio and a frustrating smartwatch experience
Style: Sport Color: Dolphin Blue
Updated review from 1 star to 3 stars after two months of ownership: I'm happy to report that the Casio Android software has been updated. Now I can pick and choose which individual apps sends out alerts to my watch. That improved the usability of the watch 100%. Another thing is the link with external app which was hidden in the menus. You can use Strava and Health Connect. To get to the menu you open the app - select My Page at the bottom right corner of the menu - choose the hamburger menu by the bell - select Link with External App. There's Strava and Health Connect as avaliable options. That's pretty horrible menu placement for such a key function of this watch, that is, for the people who will want to use these features. It's not found under watch settings. This makes no sense whatsoever. I do not like the watch face 1, I also don't like and the available options on watch faces 2 or 3. There's no classic G-Shock numbers to choose from. I'm a pilot, so I like to use UTC time. World time is the only way to see UTC time. But that's displayed very large at the center of the display. With my local time pushed to the bottom right corner. Casio has decades of experience with G-Shocks. Why did they change their own design to this inferior one beats me. Their new MIP G-Shock solves the problem with the placement of multiple time zones in the top right corner of the display, which is much more elegant and functional. I've submitted a request for them to change the watch face on this to match that of the 2025 MIP G-Shock, but I doubt they'll do it. This is my daily watch now. I don't use the fitness or heart rate functions. I just use it for phone call alerts, alarm clock, UTC time, and very rarely text message and email alerts, which I toggle only when I need them. To that extent this watch works exactly as expected. I'm definitely bummed about the UTC placement on the display. And the fact that the heart rate monitor keeps me from wearing this watch a bit more snuggly on my wrist. But it's manageable. I don't use the heart rate monitor at all. The app cannot display the watch battery level. That can only be displayed on the watch. There's no actual battery percentage. Not very helpful. 4 increments of 25%. Battery life seems OK for a smart watch, but I don't think the solar panel is capable of charging the battery in any meaningful way. You'll still need to use the included and clumsy included USB A charging cable. At 120 to 130 dollars this is a fair smart watch for classic G-Shock lovers. But at the 300 dollar mark it's quite insulting. I don't know what Casio was thinking really. Original review: I’ve been wearing 5000-series G-Shocks since the mid-80s, so I was excited to try this modern take on a classic shape. Ordering was smooth and Prime delivered it the next day, but that ended up being the high point. Durability and long lasting battery have always been at the forefront of these Casio watches. My biggest concern was receiving a previously returned unit, since Amazon openly notes how often it gets sent back. Unfortunately that’s exactly what happened. The watch had already been paired with someone else’s phone, and getting it synced to my Android device took nearly two hours of resets, reboots and trial and error before it finally updated. Once connected, the real issues started to show. The Casio Watches app feels extremely restrictive. You can’t choose which apps send alerts to the watch at all. It’s an all or nothing situation, which is a nightmare on Android where persistent system notifications are common. My watch was buzzing every couple minutes, including constantly reminding me that the Casio app itself was running in the background. The only fix is to disable notifications entirely. Competing brands using the exact same Android notification access API allow detailed filtering, so this isn’t a technical limitation. It’s simply a missing feature Casio has ignored for years. Wrong - - - There’s also zero support for sharing fitness or sleep data with other services. No Strava, no Google Fit, no MyFitnessPal, not even basic export. You can only view your metrics inside Casio’s app. Their older G-Shock Move app had more functionality than this new one, which says a lot. - - - wrong Fitness tracking is equally basic. There’s no automatic activity detection, so every walk or run must be started manually on the watch. The hardware itself is surprisingly disappointing. The MIP display has low / okay contrast, very tiny text, and is hard to read both outdoors and in the dark (the negative display that is). The backlight is weak and the automatic light feature can’t be disabled during sleeping hours, so it flickers on repeatedly at night unless you turn the feature off entirely. You can choose 1.5 seconds or 5 seconds. I chose 1.5 seconds. The vibration and buzzer alerts are a bit faint, the buttons require a painful amount of force to press, and the heart rate sensor sticks out so much that the watch never sits comfortably on the wrist unless it’s tightened to an uncomfortable degree. The strap feels thin and rough, and genuine replacements are incredibly expensive for what they are. As a pilot, one of the biggest disappointments is the lack of a quick UTC reference on the smaller display area. You can only assign a large center field to an alternate time zone, and the tiny lower corner for local time. It feels like no one considered practical use cases at all. For a watch priced around three hundred dollars, the value simply isn’t here. No solar power can make up for the weak design, uncomfortable fit, missing features and limited software. A Pixel Watch, Apple Watch or even a budget fitness band Mi Band 10 (45 bucks!) with the Zepp Life app offers a far more complete and refined experience. I’ve owned many G-Shocks over the decades, but this is one of the very few I can’t recommend. With all the rough edges and obvious oversights, it’s hard to believe this model made it out of testing. I wish Casio had taken this concept further, because the execution is far from what longtime fans expect. Not recommended. ... show more

  • A good watch, not a good smart watch.
Style: DW-H5600-1CR Color: Black
I think the biggest question to ask yourself when buying this, why do you need it? I believe as just a watch to tell the date / time this is phenomenal with the MIP display. I have a hard time reading Casios Negative displays and I haven’t been able to find a positive Casio Square that I like.. this solves the legibility issue 100% with a beautiful display. When you get into the functions as a “smart watch fitness tracker” I think this is absolutely useless in that regard, I’m sure the hardware for it is there, but the software still has a long way to go. I’ve noticed big discrepancies in step count and heart rate data compared to my whoop and Apple products. The notifications for your emails and other apps seem to hang around on the screen too long and I found myself hitting the “back” button way too often throughout the day. Yes the watch is much bulkier than the standard squares, yes the software is still awful, but I’d still highly recommend this watch if you can accept it for just that, a watch. ... show more
