I bought this Casio fx-300ES Plus 2nd Edition mainly for school/work calculations, and it has been very solid so far. The display is clear and easy to read, especially when entering fractions, exponents, square roots, and longer expressions. I like that the layout is simple enough for basic use but still has the scientific functions needed for algebra, statistics, trig, and general math classes. The buttons feel responsive and have a good amount of feedback when pressed. They are not too soft or too stiff. The calculator is also lightweight, so it is easy to keep in a backpack or desk drawer without taking up much space. The pink color is a nice bonus because it stands out and is harder to misplace. One thing to know is that this is not a graphing calculator, so it is best for standard scientific calculator needs. For that purpose, it does exactly what it should. Overall, it feels dependable, easy to use, and well-built for the price. I would recommend it for students or anyone who needs a straightforward scientific calculator.

I'm an adult scientist who grew up with basic calculators, then scientific calculators, and finally graphing calculators throughout my education and who prefers physical calculators instead of apps on a phone or computer, especially when dealing with fractions, exponents, or roots. Graphing calculators are powerful, but bulky and require battery changes at inconvenient times (tip: use lithium or low-self-discharge NiMH rechargeable batteries instead of alkaline batteries in graphing calculators since they don't leak!). I was in the market for a scientific calculator that offered the typical range of scientific functions (e.g. trigonometric functions, exponents and roots, logs, etc.), was solar powered with a battery backup, offered a "natural" (that is, dot-matrix) display for entering input and viewing results in standard form (rather than simply showing decimal results), and a moveable cursor to highlight and make changes to input. I was pleasantly surprised to find this model, which offered all those features for less than $12. In addition, it offered some additional helpful features like being able to calculate the Greatest Common Divisor or Least Common Multiple for pairs of numbers, coordinate conversions, permutations and combinations, and many more. The buttons provide good tactile feedback, and are suitable for use by both children and grown adults. Calculations are performed swiftly with no detectable lag in most cases (some operations take a noticeable split second to carry out, but most are effectively instant), and the ability to have results displayed in exact form (for example, sin(45 degrees) = 1/sqrt(2) rather than 0.70710678199) with the ability to also switch the display to show them in as floating point decimals and back again is very convenient. Entering input is straightforward and intuitive. The screen contrast is adjustable in the menu. Although the calculator does not have a "solve for x"-type equation solver to solve algebraic equations, nor does it have the ability to graph results (which is perfectly fine, nor were those things I would expect in such a device), it's packed with features and functionality that make it extremely powerful and handy. My only quibble is that I wish the ON, OFF, and AC button all shared a single key instead of the ON button being separate. Out of habit, I find myself pressing the AC button in an attempt to turn the calculator on and it's annoying that pushing that button doesn't work to turn it on; one needs to press the separate ON button. It'd be virtually perfect if AC button also doubled as the ON button, and SHIFT+ON/AC turned the calculator off. Still, for less than $12 this calculator is an outstanding value and performs functions that scientists of even a few decades ago would be envious of and willing to pay considerably larger sums for. I like it and recommend it.

The child insisted on a pink calculator. 😂 It’s easy to use. The battery life is long. It has all the functions she needed for math and the buttons are easy to read and use. It fit perfectly into her school tote and is sturdy and stable. She’s done with high school now and it stood the test of time.

I love this pink color!! It comes with a page full of instructions, and a matching case. And the price on this is amazing for a scientific calculator most are over $20, this one does the same exact thing as the others you just have to get used to a different button layout and functions.

Good little machine. Doesn’t do all of the computations that the Texas Instrument 84 C Plus Python can do but will do a lot of basic scientific calculations more simply than the TI 84. It also costs a fraction of the TI 84 cost. The TI 84 will graph functions the Casio doesn’t.

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Casio fx-300ESPLUS2 2nd Edition calculator, and I must say it's an impressive tool for both students and professionals alike. Casio has long been known for producing high-quality calculators, and this updated version certainly lives up to that reputation. First and foremost, the fx-300ESPLUS2 2nd Edition offers a sleek and modern design. The calculator has a well-sized display with a clear and sharp resolution, making it easy to read and interpret calculations and functions. The buttons are responsive and well-placed, ensuring smooth and accurate input. The overall build quality is solid, and the calculator feels durable and sturdy in hand. One of the standout features of the fx-300ESPLUS2 2nd Edition is its extensive functionality. It provides a wide range of functions, including basic arithmetic, scientific calculations, statistical analysis, and even complex algebraic equations. The calculator supports fraction calculations, matrix operations, and is equipped with a versatile equation solver. These features make it a versatile tool for various academic and professional disciplines. The fx-300ESPLUS2 2nd Edition also boasts a dual-powered system, allowing you to use both solar power and a backup battery. This feature is especially handy for extended use in different environments, as you don't have to worry about running out of power in the middle of important calculations. Another notable aspect of this calculator is its user-friendly interface. Casio has designed the user interface to be intuitive and easy to navigate. The menus and options are well-organized, and the calculator comes with a user guide that provides clear instructions on how to use its different functions. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced calculator user, you'll find it easy to get the hang of this device. In terms of portability, the fx-300ESPLUS2 2nd Edition is compact and lightweight. It fits comfortably in a backpack or bag, making it convenient to carry around for school or work. The calculator also features a protective cover to prevent any damage to the screen or buttons during transport. One minor drawback I noticed is that the display could be slightly larger. While the current size is adequate for most calculations, a larger screen would enhance the user experience, particularly for those with visual impairments or when dealing with complex equations that require extensive scrolling. In conclusion, the Casio fx-300ESPLUS2 2nd Edition is an excellent calculator that offers a wide range of functions, a user-friendly interface, and a durable build. It's a reliable companion for students, professionals, and anyone in need of a versatile calculator. Despite the minor issue with the display size, the fx-300ESPLUS2 2nd Edition excels in performance and functionality, making it a worthwhile investment for those seeking a high-quality calculator.

Casio makes excellent inexpensive calculators and watches. This is no exception. Someone genuinely paid attention to the user interface, which I haven't seen in any other calculator at this price point. Highly recommended. If you need one for class, this is a stellar choice.
