The thick blade is made of incredibly high quality steel, easy to sharpen, holds an edge incredibly well, even after much use. The handle fits perfectly in the hand, very easy to grip and hold onto. This was supposed to replace my every day carry knife that I stupidly lost to TSA. First, what I like. It's a great looking knife - the yellow version looks just like an aged bone handle. The handle isn't too small and the shape gives good hand position. The blade is a very usable size and I like the shape. Arrived surprisingly sharp! The stainless, brass and handle look and feel like quality materials. Now for the negatives. As you can see in the photos, the middle pin was placed less than a millimeter from the edge of the scales. This has to be a manufacturing error because the Amazon product photos show it set further from the edge. You can actually see the pin through the opaque handle material. My concern is that it's an obvious weak point and the scales will likely chip or break. This should have been caught by quality control and rejected. The only other thing I dislike is that the blade doesn't lock. Every knife I've bought in recent years has a lock blade so it didn't even occur to me that this wouldn't have one. The knife requires two hands to open. Since it doesn't lock, I find it sort of reassuring that folding and unfolding friction is a little on the stiff side. All in all, this is a great knife in many ways but disappoints due to the manufacturing issue. ... show more

This is my first case knife and gotta say it’s actually a good pocket knife. Now the steel to me is odd and new to me cause it’s called Chrome Vanadium which i have no idea if it holds good edge retention but honestly it’s actually good. I was whittling a thick piece of wood and check the edge for edge retention and it was really good. For $30 it’s a good pocket knife. ... show more

Case's Sod Buster Jr. was not my first choice, as I actually wanted something else, different brand basically, but rather than go broke on Ebay, I settled for this one.....and I am glad I did....this is great little knife.....smoothe walk and talk......I had to touch the edge a little, but I didn't mind that....the craftsmanship is totally different on the Jr....vs the large Sod Buster.....hmmm....brass pins and liners.....blade was centering is little off, but not bad, again better than the larger version....no half stop...back spring is flush with the scales in both the open and closed positions.....nail nick is in the ideal location....towards the tip of the blade for easier opening......SS blade....slip joint......made in US....this knife is very basic, which is good IMO.......a good EDC option.....I would recommend this knife to anyone.....the knife is pocket friendly, but I would use a pocket slip......to be honest, I could;ve purchased 2 of these for the price I would've paid for my first choice......fast shipping....no complaints...bargain buster! ... show more

Good steel that takes an edge and holds it. As a machinist familiar with steel I can't think of a better knife. Have owned German Solingen knives in the past and these Case knives are IMHO better steel. Many modern knives are made for the same steel vendors plate. However heat treat is where the metal meets the bone. Sharpen your case on Sunday and cut all week. JR size fits in your pocket nice. Full size sod Buster lays along side a typical kitchen paring knife. Personally I’ve never owned a better pocket knife than a Case. 59 years old now so if someone doesn’t show me soon it may not happen. ... show more
