Wow! This is the best spider grabber EVER! I only wish would have bought this 10 years ago. So much better that a glass and whatever to take them outside. You can cover them and slide the thing up and they seem to enjoy the ride to outside. Here I am, writing a review for a product that I bought two or three years ago and had never used until today. It had been sitting in its box unopened all this time. I recently happened to see it on top of a closet and thought to myself, 'Why did I ever buy this thing? Well, today I spotted a medium-sized brown recluse spider near my sofa and immediately jumped up to grab the apparatus. I found the spider, placed the container over it, and slid the orange platform safely into place. It trapped it so easily! The built-in magnifying glass even lets you see it up close! This was the first time in my life that I didn't kill a spider like that. I’ve never been afraid of daddy longlegs, so I always let them be, but any other spider usually ended up smashed out of my own fear. Not this time! I was able to take it outside to the sidewalk and safely release it. That spider doesn’t know how lucky it was that I had this bug catcher. I highly recommend it! ... show more

I find this excellent for multiple reasons. Is it safe way for kids and adults to catch and observe insects and arachnids safely for both the humans and creatures alike. It is also a very useful tool to use if you are looking to catch insects to feed reptiles or other pets. I think it was very affordable for its many uses and would be a great gift for kids and adults. I love the way it's made. It's easy to use and the material is stable. It catches bugs humanely, great! It is obviously NOT 5x magnification as advertised. I don't care, I'm using it for catch and release, but they're completely lying. It's 2x magnification. It comes with a printed "bug", you can clearly compare the size difference and it's twice as wide magnified as it is on paper. 5x would actually be absurd, the 2x is fine, but why lie? Mostly I'm dismayed that it doesn't come with a loop for hanging, or even a hole to put a loop through. Obviously the most obvious place to keep this is next to my fly swatter, which hangs on the inside of my coat closet. This is a bulky, irregular-shaped object so hanging makes perfect sense. So I had to fashion a loop to go around the handle and a loop to attach to that, which isn't a big deal, but it's definitely a design flaw not to include a loop from the start. ... show more

A friend recommended a bug catcher to avoid harming the little critters in the house. When she sent me the link, the one she had was unavailable, so I started looking for something similar until I found this one. The design seems comfortable, and I think the opening mechanism works well and is easy to use. I tested it with a boxelder bug that was outside the house, and honestly, you still have to be careful so you don’t hurt any of its little legs. I think it worked well because I wasn’t scared while using it. When Jonathan (that’s what I named the little bug I caught) was inside the transparent container, the magnifying glass helped me observe it. It’s really fun and interesting if you’re curious like me! In the end, I released Jonathan outside, and everything was super easy. I think it’s a great product—not only creative, but also very easy to use and safe for my little bug friends :) Also, sorry about the video. I'm really bad recording :( ... show more
