Constructed of tough 12-ounce, 100% cotton sandstone duck, it features warm sherpa lining in the body and quilted-nylon lining in the sleeves. Well outfitted for storage, the jacket includes a left-chest pocket with zipper closure, plus an inside pocket as well as two lower-front pockets with zipper closures. The adjustable cuffs and waist enhance fit, and a pleated bi-swing back adds comfort. Built Carhartt strong with triple-stitched main seams.

Long overdue. I've been eyeing this jacket for years, but living in Sydney means paying a serious markup, usually somewhere in the 300-400 AUD range. Coming to the States and grabbing it at a fraction of that price felt like a win before I even tried it on. And the jacket itself didn't disappoint. The Detroit is built from 12-ounce, 100% ringspun cotton duck, with a blanket lining through the body and quilted nylon through the sleeves. It's legitimately tough. You can tell just from holding it that this thing is going to last, not a few seasons, but years. Triple-stitched main seams and a pleated bi-swing back back that up, giving you real durability without sacrificing mobility. On sizing: plenty of reviews will tell you it runs small, but I found it fits true to size. The relaxed fit gives you moderate room through the chest, shoulders, and body, with enough space to layer a tee or lightweight top underneath. It's not oversized or boxy, just a clean, natural silhouette. The drop-tail hem gives you extra coverage without getting in the way of a tool belt, and the pockets are exactly where you'd want them. Two lower front pockets, two interior pockets, and a left chest zip pocket make this genuinely practical day to day. I’m 5”9 185LBS,⬅️ (we listen and we don’t judge) originally ordered a Large. Received it, tried it on and it was HUGE! Sleeves were extremely long, the body of the jacket was super baggy, even with a sweatshirt on I still looked like a 5 year old trying on Grandpas suit jacket. I returned the Large, ordered a Medium and it fit perfect! (That’s what she said) Also fits nicely with a sweatshirt on. Certainly not the warmest jacket but does the job on those 50 degree days. Beats going back to your Ex to keep you warm on those chilly days. The zipper is a bit annoying to operate but that seems to be a thing with Carhartt jackets. Being that I own a few, they all have that same issue. Still it’s no where near as annoying as your boss saying “Good morning” on a Monday morning, before coffee. I really like the tan color of the jacket but just know, it’s not a perfect match to the Timberland tan, the jacket is a bit darker. So, if you’re looking for a jacket to perfectly match your Tim’s, this isn’t it unfortunately. But Damn does it still look nice when paired with the boots! I’m giving this product 5 stars for now based on the fact that I have other Carhartt products and they have served me well and I expect this one to do the same. I bought this jacket for work, I have a nice Sherpa lined rain defender Carhartt sweater but I knew wearing it to work (I’m a plumber) would snag and possibly ruin the outside. This material feels a lot more abrasion resistant and will hold up for my line of work. I live in Florida, and although it doesn’t snow where I live, it’s not uncommon for the temperatures to drop below freezing early in the morning and feel like the high 20’s. I love the blanket lining and it is VERY warm (for me at least). I bought a large and I’m glad that I did. A medium would have definitely fit better (I’m 6’0, 185 athletic build with broader shoulders than average) but my wife and I do like to vacation in colder areas and having this in a large will allow me to layer if needed. The length isn’t that short cut because the jacket is a relaxed fit and fits loosely. As a service plumber it looks professional and in my opinion can be dressed up and worn out to dinner or a night out in the town or dressed down through rough working environments. Lastly, I feel I got lucky because as the others have posted their pictures, their tags say that theirs were made in other countries, but mine was made right here in the USA, hopefully you get one made here too! ... show more

Good quality Carhartt coat. I like the blanket lining and it's definitely not a coat to wear in really cold weather, I'd think layering a thick hoodie with a t shirt under that would make it workable in fairly cold weather. I'm 5'9" and 175 lbs and like baggy clothing, and so the large is perfect for me. It could shrink with washing over the years but it won't make it fit any less well on me. Here's my complaint: The tip of the zipper, the male part if you will, is actually hidden in folds of material, very very hard to find and start the zip up process. Why this is I can't explain, and as others have noted, other Carhartt coats sometimes have problematic zippers. But this looks a mistake, hiding the tip of the zipper so maddenly deep in fabric it might take a couple of minutes just to get the zipper going, and that's why I can't give it 5 stars. Others may get these coats without this problem, but mine definitely is a pain in the rear to begin the zip up. Once you solve the problem it zips up fine, so why on earth is there this big flaw in an otherwise very worthy coat? Quality control should have caught it and sold my coat as a "second," but I'll keep it. UPDATE: After a couple of washings and a lot of work the zipper is working easier. It's just that the "male" part is tiny and buried in thick cloth, making it hard to zip up, but I will say it has improved. Still 4 stars for me. ... show more

I hope this helps many people. The jacket is as described; it runs a little larger than normal. It's bigger than a regular jacket, apparently designed to be layered underneath, but the sleeves are fitted and it's longer than usual. It's long enough to wear some thicker clothing underneath. It's comfortable, high-quality, and very durable, judging by the fabric. Ideal for work or casual wear, it's guaranteed to last a long time. My advice, as always, is to order one size down, and if it's uncomfortable, go for a larger size or a Tall. It's excellent, and I really like its short design and long sleeves. Es mas grande que una chaqueta normal al parecer esta disenada para llaver otras piezas por debajo, pero su diseño es ajustado en las mangas y mas largo que lo normal. I don't like the quality, hold, and snap of the buttons on the wrists. They have the brand logo, on them, but are disappointing. The fit is perfect. I am 5 feet 8 inches tall. The sleeves are long enough to allow a good range of movement. On the the first button snap, they are too long and the wrists are too big. But, the second is fine, and the length is needed be able to move well. This is the large. I have other Carhartt cotton jackets, size medium that I can not wear, because I washed them and they shrank, a lot. If, I loose weight, and feel like risking it, I may wash this one. If, I was planning on washing this jacket, at my current weight, I would consider getting an extra-large, and wash it a couple of times before use. I am 200 pounds and this size is perfect with with one long sleeve shirt underneath, or one shirt and a thicker second layer. ... show more
