CARENURSE Steel Toe Slip-on Shoes Review I bought these steel-toe mesh shoes for working in the yard. The pictures are of the first time I wore them and include the roofing nail I stepped on. THE POSITIVE The product page states there is a steel toe and “anti-pierce is built to protect your feet from being punctured by sharp objects like nails…” and the shoes are lightweight. While working in a flowerbed next to the house, I didn’t realize I stepped on a roofing nail until I was walking on concrete and heard the clacking of metal on concrete. I found a roofing nail embedded in the bottom sole of the shoe. The nail did not penetrate the interior of the shoe. I do not know if the nail did not penetrate into the interior of the foot bed because the nail was too short, because of the sole’s thickness, or if the “anti-pierce” design is as effective as the seller’s promotional video showing a person wearing the shoes jumping on nail points facing the sole. I measured my foot as shown on the product page. The fit was fine but I did need to cinch the shoe laces quite a bit. Initially, the toe box seemed a bit narrow but after wearing the shoes for almost three hours there was no discomfort. The shoe felt like any other sneaker or tennis shoe other than the steel toe cap. The inserts are removeable and are easily replaceable. I found the shoes to be fairly lightweight and they were flexible. THE NEGATIVE The product description states these are “slip on” type shoes but they do onto compare to the “slip-in” shoes I have from a major brand that has laces that are not adjustable. I found the back of Carenurse shoes folded over when I put my feet into them. I found it easier just to treat them like a normal lace-up shoe. CONCLUSION This shoe was a good buy. I can’t speak of the durability of the shoe as I’ve only worn them once. Still, I’m very pleased with the comfort and apparent protection they afforded me today. If the slip-on feature is a high priority for you, go with the famous name brand “slip-in” shoe. If that feature is secondary, these shoes are very much worth considering given they include safety features and are, as of this writing, almost a third of the cost.

After some wear and tear, just like other reviews, some lace holes snapped. But the steal toe is still in tact, the fabric has yet to rip, and still more comfortable and breathable than boots. All-in-all, great for the price paid.
