    • Awning safe to use now
First of all I have to thank the previous reviewer who suggested wire and duct tape to get the back plate up in the channel and into position. This worked a treat but it wouldn’t hold the plate while I screwed in the knob. However I had a right angled screw driver which acted as a hook to hold the plate and I got the knob screwed in. Even with all the messing around it took me longer to get the tools set up than to install. I thought I would have to change the other knob, to match but it looked to be the same as the new one. Either the new ones are exactly the same as the originals or a previous owner had changed them. Happy with my purchase. ... show more

Helpful install hint. The backing nut can be very frustrating and difficult to get in the right position. The trick, I used a 12 inch long piece aluminum wire with a 4 inch 90 degree bent at one end. I double wrapped the bent end with duct tape, so it was sticky, placed it behind the backing nut in the channel, and slid the backing nut up to align with the screw knob. ... show more

    • Great product - know your rail width.
I had to grind down the nuts so they would fit inside my rails, but after that installation was a breeze. I had watched a YouTube video first and learned the screwdriver trick to hold the nut in place to put in the knob. Very happy. Great price, fast ship.
