  • Sturdy and easy to use.
Size: X-Large
This product arrived- it is the size and material described in the listing. Easy to use, and makes cutting logs into kindling very easy and predictable. We love the small sizes of the kindling, and it makes fires easier to start. Recommend you give it a try!

  • Does not work well
Size: X-Large
We bought this in hopes that it would allow our son to split kindling easier and safer. It is actually more dangerous because the wood slips when you try to split it. My husband won’t let our son use it because of this. My husband who is 6’3” struggles to use this effectively. Very disappointed. Especially for how much we paid for it. ... show more

  • Well-made but splits limited types of wood
Size: Large
This splitter is very much as described: it's very well made and will likely last a long time. The problem is that it's pretty hard to use effectively, except on the most fibrous wood (cedar shakes are ideal). So far, I've had a hard time getting enough leverage with the scissor action--it doesn't apply anywhere near as much force as an axe, maul, or hatchet. To be clear, splitting some wood is a breeze, but I don't come across that type of wood very often. Cedar, pine, and other fibrous wood should be fine. Fir, alder, and hemlock are too challenging. ... show more

  • Only good for short, small kindle.
Size: X-Large
Seems to be very solid and sturdy. It did come with 4 heavy-duty concrete anchors for mounting so that was a nice surprise. One piece of advice: mount it low enough so you have better leverage from above. Guy in the video mounts way too high. This will NOT cut logs. In fact it’s completely useless if that’s your plan with this tool. However if you use this for kindling as it’s intended then it works like a charm. ... show more

  • 4-5x Faster Than A Hatchet
Size: X-Large
It took me maybe 15 minutes to process the same amount if kindling it would have taken about an hour to do using a hatchet and a hammer. I’ll admit that I was skeptical when I first got it, but I just put it up and gave it a go, and I was very impressed. This will be a huge time saver. I suggest holding it at the height you think you’ll like and operating the handle to find the ideal position. ... show more

  • It works well
Size: Large
Mounted easily. Works well. I need to saw my kindling a bit shorter, but that is not the splitters problem.

  • Only Works on Soft Wood
Size: X-Large
Secured device to a tree for maximum support. Just slides up when attempting to split anything other than pine. Wish I would have read the reviews prior to purchasing. Too late to send back.

  • Has been pretty useless
Size: Large
Have this mounted at my woodshed where I go through a cord or more of wood per winter inside in addition to whatever I burn in the fire pit out back. Needless to say cutting down large pieces to kindling is a regular need for me. The first problem is this thing comes uselessly dull. Secondly, the allowable length of wood it accepts is far shorter than what a standard stove, or fire pit, takes so you’d need to cut down the standard log length to be able to fit it in this thing… and then sharpen it to be at all useful. ... show more
