This worked very good fixing a 8hp Briggs chipper . HOWEVER METRIC bolts will be needed to as it is threaded with 6mm (?) not SAE threads. the machine started up quickly and runs fine so far

    • Perfect Replacement for Long Obsolete OEM Carburetor
It's not often that a cement mixer with a long obsolete engine comes through our small engine shop. When we discovered that, not only was the long jet that goes through the whole thing seized, thereby preventing disassembly, but that the bowl was cracked as well... we thought we'd have to call time of death and give our customer the bad news, what with the OEM carburetor being long since discontinued. Found this, though and it worked perfectly! Only had to do minor mixture adjustments and that old engine was purring like a kitten. The ONLY complaint I have is that the aluminum body is so soft, that the lower mounting bolt (which is included!) strips WAY too easily. Just thread a ¼"-20 bolt in instead and bob's your uncle.     • Inexpensive Carburetor Seems to Work Well
My 1990 vintage Simplicity 860 snowblower with Briggs 8HP motor had run poorly for years, requiring some choke on even when warm. The dealer failed to get it running properly and eventually it didn't run at all. I decided to roll the dice on this inexpensive carb. As other reviews mentioned 6mm bolts or tapping are required and a small amount must be filed off the bottom bracket to install it. Amazingly the engine started on the first pull. It ran a little rough so I turned the main needle in about 1/4 turn. I haven't heard that old engine run like this in years. Despite the fact that it needs 6mm bolts and needs a little filing I am giving it 5 stars because it is inexpensive and works. ... show more
