  • Not bad for the money but has issues
Style: with Navigation Map
I bought this when it dipped below $100 to get it installed overseas to a 96 Primera. I missed the fact that there is ONLY one set of RCA outs, but for less that $100 I guess you can only get so much. I believe I have figured out a reset problem I have encountered, it was when I would plug in my iphone and it needed to charge and I was running Waze (it's a battery hog) and hit the volume a bit too much. IF I stay aware of how much power I am sucking through the unit then it will keep working just fine but that does not speak very well of the construction quality. It WILL mirror an iPhone screen (at least it did with my X, will find out about the 13 this summer) but IF I recall correctly I cannot touch the head unit screen and get my phone to respond. The sound quality, is NOT very good especially when I turn up the volume. It replaced a very old Clarion tape deck the car came with that I was using a Bluetooth FM transmitter to play music through and as much as I hate to admit it jumping through all the hoops with the Clarion sounded better. I do plan to put an amp on it this summer and upgrade the speakers so I hope the RCA outs with an amp will sound good. Also I am hopeful that taking the load off the unit's amp out will resolve the reset issues. I will update the review accordingly. Camera is ok, but the field of view is not very good, and it is not very bright. I can't speak to the GPS as it did not come with any maps at all, or even a sim card of some sort, and I contacted their tech support, which by the time I did closed for the Chinese New Year. I was told they would get back to me after that but they never did. I prefer using Waze through my iPhone so I will stay with that. Well, it is a below average head unit, but it DOES do quite a lot of things and it does work so far, and you can't beat the price, so I think 3 stars is a fair rating. After I put an amp and get some more use out of it, I will update. ... show more

I liked pretty much everything I was definitely impressed I just wasn't able to bolt it in without having a piece fabricated it was just a little to small to get to my bolt holes other then that it hooked right up.

  • terrible GPS satellite connection and way to bright LED lights on front
Style: with Navigation Map
I bought this for my '96 thunderbird so I had a built in GPS system, Since I often travel long distances. But it has proven to be a waste of money! Despite the fact that the GPS antenna is placed in the best spot possible, it loses connection to the satellite every few minutes, and often shows me as being in an entirely different location then where I'm actually at! this has more than once resulted in me being later to my destination, or having to resort to my phone for google maps. everything else works fine, but I wish there was a setting to turn down the brightness of the LEDs on the front, or at least set a single color rather than the constant color cycle which is blindingly bright at night. all-in-all I would not recommend this to anyone. ... show more

  • Wiring Conflict
Style: with Navigation Map
Received the unit yesterday. Need clarification on wiring before I can install unit; please refer to my photo. Instruction Manual pages 08 and 04, and the actual labels and colors of the wiring harness, conflict. 1. What does the Orange/Black wire "REVERSE (Reverse direction) connect to ? 2. What does the Pink (PARKING (Parking Sensor Control Wires) connect to ? Q&As and emails about what wire Pink or Orange/Black resulted in TechSupport sending another Manual with a different wire harness than in my photo, and 1 response to use either of those 2 wires and 4 responses to use the Pink wire. Finished pre-installation testing of Radio and USB (for audio books); then played with the backup, only the Orange/Black wire worked, not the Pink. Now I can proceed with full installation. Modified review from 1 to 3 stars. I'll edit my review again after installation and full testing. As of 1/16/2021: the GPS SD map is NOT user friendly for mapping out a road trip, and NOT updatable. USB MUSIC does NOT use playlists, and iTunes .m4a extensions must be converted to .mp3. No setup option to change Backup camera image to mimic a mirror view; had to remove/reinstall the mounting brackets, effectively turning the camera upside down to get the same view as my side and rear mirror views. Added an external SPDT ON-OFF-ON switch to control the backup camera (Pic above) so I can see traffic without being in Reverse, which I find useful going through big cities with multiple on/off ramps. Road trip to Colorado mountains planned for the summer, COVID permitting, so I'll reevaluate my review then. Question asked: Usb music just displays null for music folder/album/info; what do i need to modify to fix this? (Look it up and the 1st response) Their amended response: We apologize for the wrong information before, the unit you purchased does not support the display for music folder/album/info. Sorry for the inconvenience caused again. If you have any other concern please feel free to contact us. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be changing my 3 Star review. ... show more

  • Not COMPLETELY horrible
Style: with Navigation Map
The radio itself isn't horrible, but there are things that have been frustrating. I'll start off by saying the install wasn't to bad, and it has good sound quality. I do love the touchscreen. It pulls out and folds away very easily. However, I can't get it to save the current time, and the GPS is aweful. If it's cloudy, or if trees or power lines are around at all, all you hear is, "GPS signal lost". I live in the boonies, so trying to listen to one song on the radio, you have to be reminded that the GPS signal is lost about 8/9 times. VERY ANNOYING. However, I did figure out a way to turn that off, but I have to remember to do that every time I restart my vehicle, as it does not save my settings properly. The Bluetooth connected easily, so sometimes I will just listen to music off my phone. The backup camera isn't bad. It's a little grainy, but not really a big deal. All in all, it's an okay radio. ... show more
