A Decent Budget Upgrade, But Don't Take the Advertised Numbers Literally

This is a pretty good starter package for someone who wants to step up from a completely stock audio system without spending a ton of money. The speakers produce decent sound and the amplifier gives you enough additional power to make a noticeable difference compared with simply running aftermarket speakers from the factory radio. I wouldn't classify this as a premium audio system, though. The sound is decent, but you can tell where the money was saved compared with higher-end brands. That's perfectly acceptable at this price point as long as your expectations are realistic. I also wouldn't push the amplifier anywhere near its advertised maximum output and assume you're actually getting that kind of clean continuous power. Budget amplifiers tend to advertise numbers that look much more impressive on paper than what you're realistically going to get in normal use. One thing I would pay attention to is the physical size of the amplifier. This isn't one of those tiny amps that can be squeezed almost anywhere. Make sure you have enough room to mount it properly and still have adequate ventilation. The included wiring kit is convenient, but I wouldn't use it as my primary wiring solution for a serious installation. The power cable is pretty thin, and the included fuse holder is the old round screw-top style that I absolutely hate dealing with. Those things are a PITA to work with, and I'd replace it with a better fuse holder if I were doing a permanent installation. For a short run as part of an add-on system, the cable can be useful. For a larger or higher-powered installation, I'd buy the appropriate wiring separately. Pros: - Complete starter package - Includes amplifier and speakers - Decent sound quality - Good option for upgrading a factory system - Convenient for a basic installation - 4-channel amplifier gives you room for multiple speakers Cons: - Output ratings are optimistic - Not comparable to higher-end audio equipment - Amplifier is relatively large - Included power cable is thin - Included fuse holder isn't my preferred design Conclusion: A decent budget system for someone who wants better sound without building an expensive audio setup. The speakers and amp are usable, but I'd treat the included wiring kit as a convenience rather than the foundation of a serious installation.

Back to working speakers

I paired this amp and speaker pair, with another pair of speakers I had purchased from the same brand a few months back. These are in an old jeep from the 90s, and while the grand Cherokee back then originally came with an Infiniti branded system, over the years the paper cones have blown out. These is only about 20% of the sound from the old ones and crackle. Since they are door speakers I figured something that handles water and moisture a bit better should last at least another 30 years if the vehicle does. There are slight differences in the old speakers and those in this set. Color of the cone is red rather than black and a different grill that doesn’t look like a spider but neither of those will be seen in the jeep so it an issue for me. I had replaced the factory radio years ago with an aftermarket and bypassed the factory infinity amp at that time so running theee as a test off just head unit power I figured it couldn’t hurt adding in an amp for clean power. Easy to hook up the amp to switch between and test. And these was a different sound for sure in how clear it is. The factory wiring to speakers from the factory amp is under the rear seat and this works great in that space as well. Great value for sure. Not a brand name but sounds better than old blown speakers.
