This thing is pretty nice. Not perfect, but it’ll work. If you’re willing to put in work, you can make this better. Button snaps for the “window” things will work better. The zipper on the door at the end is garbage, I’m gonna put in ringlets and use clips. The straps on the bottom get tangled and twisted easy. I’m cutting the straps off and replacing with paracord with carabiners. The straps on the bottom are absolutely necessary, so don’t just not have a thing down there. Lastly, this will not stand on its own. I’m buying a 16 foot tent pole for dirt cheap, and gonna make attachment points on the top of it. We were looking for something to extend over the back of a teardrop trailer that would protect us from wind and rain while prepping and cooking and eating while also allowing room for guests. This canopy was the best for the price and it worked well. We used it in November in the Ho River Campground in Olympic National Park (think lots of wind and rain). After practice at home, it took us about 20 minutes to assemble and stake it down. We had one windy night where some people in the campground had canopies collapse or blow over, but not this one. note the flaps fold down and velcro to the side. It is still a bit breezy, but it worked well. The fabric is thin, so I'm a bit concern over the long haul. The most concerning part were the poles (see photos). These are typical folding tent poles with elastic in the center for ease in assembly and storage. Some had the metal tube at the end not crimped properly and they fell off, but after the first assembly they seemed to stay in place. The more troubling part was the frayed elastic cord (see photo). We responded immediately to the vendor and they said they would replace it. It took several weeks to get the replacement and the replacement had the same problem. When we sent a photo to the vendor there response is below. "GOD, we have carefully checked this rod, and no problem was found at the time, it may be damaged by the transportation . . This is an elastic drawstring. Can you pull out the damaged area and tie it up? Or extend it with a rope. This will not affect the use. Thank you for your understanding." My response was - "Are you suggesting that I include your explanation in my review of the canopy on Amazon? I have used tent poles similar to this for years and have never seen this happen. But to see it twice with the same product does seem to be something others would want to know. I doubt this was due to shipping since it was packaged and protected well. I will wait to submit my review until I hear your response. " There response was - "I'm sorry, we are just a supplier, we can only do this, if you are still not satisfied, please apply for a return, Amazon will handle it. Thank you for your understanding. " We will continue to use it, but buyer be ware. You are purchasing from a supplier, not the manufacturer and the quality of the products may be suspect so check it carefully when it first arrives. ... show more

    • Great...Once It's Up
I have a little bit of a love-hate relationship with this canopy. All the features that make it great once it is up make it a real pain to get up. Overall, I like it for a multi-day camping trip, but it is more trouble than it's worth for just an afternoon picnic. The tension cables along the ground, for example, are great for keeping it in shape but a lot of trouble to keep untangled and in place whilst setting it up. It's probably just barely possible for an experienced person to put it up solo, but two or three sets of hands is better. Be prepared to amuse your neighbors if you are doing it in the wind (which we were the first time we used it, but we still managed to get it done). That said, I love it when it is up. It's big and provides a lot of shade -- the curved sides give more coverage than a usual straight-sided canopy. I love the multiple doors with covers, which give you a lot of flexibility to block sun/wind right where you want to and/or to have privacy where you want to. We haven't used it in any kind of serious weather, but it has held up to ordinary rain and wind with no problems -- you may need more guy lines for higher wind, but I've never been worried about it blowing away or twisting. Be aware that this is not self-standing -- it has to have the guy lines staked to hold it up. We've found that the best method for setting it up is to insert the 4 poles starting inside out (to avoid tangling), then raise it from one end to the other. Start with a basic line staking to get it vertical, then go back around to tighten it up. It's pretty easy to get back down and into the bag. ... show more

I purchased this tent to use as a canopy to park my car under for car camping. It was perfect! Set up for the first time was a bit challenging, and definitely took 2 people, but I have no doubt it will be easier the next time. The tent was sturdy, the material was decent, and the poles were completely adequate. I feel like it was great value for the money compared to other canopies. And it is so unique and perfect for what I wanted to use it for. The only issue was the zipper closure on the end. I agree with other reviews of it being flimsy and useless. I was able to get the enclosure zipped up, but the zipper would get off track and leave small gaps. I wanted to open it for airflow, but was afraid I wouldn’t get it zipped up again. Other than that, I would have given it 5 stars. All the complaints that I’ve read are easy fixes with a little patience and practice. I figured out how to roll the flaps up without sagging on the ends, how to use the extra rope provided to hang tapestries, lights, and a clothesline, and how to get it back into the bag easily. The tent provided me with excellent shade and privacy. I used it at a festival setting, and everyone stopped and asked about it and asked where to get one! Made lots of new friends! ... show more

It’s kind of cheap made, but if you set it up and rope it down like you’re supposed to. It lasted me through a three day weekend with rain never leaked at all, but would recommend extra waterproof spray. It worked amazing!!!!
