Excellent enclosure for the money. Hits lows very well, and still thumps hard at all volume levels. Currently using a Kicker playing at 300 watts RMS from the amp, one of the best set ups I've had in the civic. This enclosure is large. Did not fit the stock opening in a 2000 civic, was able to squeeze it through the front side with the seats removed. If you have a bigger trunk, shouldn't be an issue. ... show more

This particular sub enclosure is shipped in a thin cardboard box which is exactly the same size as the product. Mine arrived with one of the corners bashed in (so I returned it). It'd be great if it was double-boxed but that's not always an option for Sellers moving lots of product. UPS is... well, we all know they play rugby with our packages. The FRONT FACE (aka "baffle") of this cabinet, where you mount your subwoofer, is in fact 1" thick MDF. That's a good thing where subs are concerned. However, the OTHER FIVE sides of the box are all 5/8" thick MDF, NOT 3/4" as described for this item (I measured using calipers to make sure). For my purposes-- adding solid bass boost but not competition-grade volumes-- 5/8" MDF is not the end of the world. But those of you planning to run 500-1000 RMS watts into a competition-level driver, in this box, might experience some unwanted vibrations or rattling (or even damage to the box itself). You probably already suspected as much, but to get a competition-grade box that will withstand anything you throw at it, you'll probably have to spend double the price of this box, maybe more. This is definitely a "consumer product" only. In any event, when I spoke directly with a representative at HiFi Sound Connection, they were VERY cordial and helpful as far as processing my return quite promptly.     • wood and carpeting is holding up great 1 year later
I've got a high powered 15" woofer on 600 watts and haven't had any problems with this box. The glue, wood and carpeting is holding up great 1 year later.

    • Don’t buy it won’t last
I recently bought this single 15” sub box and it appeared to be really solid and well made. I soon discovered after 1-2 days of use with my 15” Sundown XV.2 that it was falling apart and started by making a rattling noice. I caught in time and had to screw many wood screws to keep intact. It looks like just wood glue was used. It my be good for a no brand sub just may stand the pounding but not Sundown. ... show more

    • Not a very suitable option
The box was alright but after a short while the box starts falling apart and it rattles about ten times louder than the actual sub. Ruins the listening experience majorly. Ended up putting in screws throughout most of the box and still can not find the source of the rattling exactly.

    • Smelly + False advertising
The box smells of yucky cheap glue, the kind of smell that takes months to fade away I've encountered it with other boxes in the past. On top of that seller also false advertises the 3/4 MDF construction. Front baffle is 3/4 inch but all the other walls and 1/2" thick!
