Best Captain America run. I haven't read a lot of Captain America, he has 80 years of history and it's so difficult to find complete runs in a collected edition but I managed to cobble together thr Ed Brubaker run and it's my favorite.

This oversized hardcover contains the first 25 issues plus a couple of one shots of Ed Brubaker's Captain America run. Captain America is being tormented by his past. He is having twisted memories of his war days. Enemies new and old conspire all around to take him down. And the mysterious Winter Soldier is on the hunt! Brubaker tells one heck of a tale here. And it's only the beginning. The legendary Winter Soldier story takes place here. One of Cap's most memorable stories ever. The characters, the pacing, the intrigue. It's all so well done. Brubaker has a love for spy thrillers and that's what we get perfectly executed. The art is so great. Steve Epting, Mike Perkins, and Michael Lark provide the majority of the line work. Frank D'Armata does the coloring. The result is a gritty photo realism that is as murky as the world as it portrays. Epting is one of my favorites so this was a real treat. One of the best Captain America stories ever that changed the Marvel universe. So glad Marvel reprinted this and the second volume looks to be out later this summer. Hopefully they do the other three too. ... show more
