This is a review of CAP's mega hex trap bar. I've upgraded from CAP's smaller dual handle trap bar to the mega hex bar and I am very happy that I did. I like to use bumper plates when I trap bar deadlift and the issue with the smaller bar was that its loadable sleeve was too short (not quite 10 inches). This bar provides 13 inches of loadable space, which is sufficient for my needs. The bar itself is extremely beefy - this lives up to its name "mega"! Its handles are thicker (32 mm) and offers a greater challenge to the grip, but not so much so that my grip becomes a limiting factor in completing a lift. Also, the knurls on the handles feel grippy enough, but won't tear your hands like a power bar could. Plus, the knurled portion of the handles are more narrow than the smaller CAP trap bar, which makes it easier to find the center balance point. In my view, this is one of CAP's best bars, and it offers an incredible build quality for the price. ... show more

It's delivered in a BIG box which is awkward to carry. Open the box outside, or wherever it's delivered and carry the bar inside. Throw the box in the recycle bin. The bar itself is GREAT! Great grips, well built, you'll never have to worry about putting too much weight on it.

Just got the trap bar with combo grip this morning. So far so good. Bought the CAP budget plates to go with it and I'm happy with the result. The knurling on this trap bar is a little extreme fresh out the box. A few sets in and my hands are already tearing apart but anyone that lifts knows it's worth it. The black coating is nice, already had a ding in it from the delivery but I assume that was shipping error more than anything. As you can see from the photos next to my German shepherd, it's pretty big but about as space efficient as can be. I got this in my studio apartment with my two dogs and home office so being able to get some reps in throughout the day is perfect and doesn't take up too much space. Also the neutral grip is the way to go if anyone is wondering. Much more effective workout with neutral hand grip if you focus on your form. Happy with the purchase. ... show more

As others have stated - bar is very sturdy and has been working well for me the past month as using is much easier on my back. I love the combo grip, switching from high grip to low grip depending on workout for the day. No issues with delivery/shipping/packaging, however, the bar is slightly bent and appears to have come out of manufacturing that way, as there was no damage to the box from shipping.
