I have to convince the cats that this quirky zigzag corner shelf (full item name: Furinno Basic 5-Tier Zigzag Corner Multipurpose Standing Shelf, Amber Pine/Black) is actually NOT a new device for them, but is something for ME, for once. They don't believe me. I didn't assemble this myself - I'm limited in what I can do with my hands these days, and I feel like the gentleman who was helping me assemble it didn't fully understand the concept, even after studying the picture and the images on the listing several times. He kind of struggled with the idea that not all the shelves had sides, but once he got the first 2-3 levels done it seemed to click, and the rest went pretty quickly. We both agreed (and he asked me to specifically mention in my review) that it felt impressively sturdy "for something missing half the walls," haha. To be honest, I wasn't 100% sure I was going to like the way it looked in my den. It's got kind of an 80s/modernist vibe, maybe even a minimalist feel, and that is definitely not my style. But once it was assembled and placed in the appropriate corner, it shone. I haven't put any items on it yet because the cats are still using it as a launch station (and it's holding up well!) but once I finish personalizing it, it's going to be awesome. (A vining plant will be on the top, with the vines snaking around the "support beams" like a trellis.) The instructions were easy to follow, and it's actually taller than I expected - once again, my "measurement blindness" came into play, and despite knowing the measurements, my brain expected it to be about one full "level" shorter, so the impressive height was a welcome surprise. When it comes to bookshelves, the staggered design paired with the espresso finish creates a stunning effect that truly stands out. Each shelf can hold approximately 5 pounds, which is more than sufficient for my intended use—displaying photos, small plants, and decorative items. The assembly process is straightforward. Simply follow the instructions carefully, especially the final step. The last shelf, labeled "E," goes at the bottom, where you'll attach the feet. There are end caps that need to be screwed onto the bottom of each shelf support pole to complete the assembly at each stage. As you add each shelf, secure it by attaching an end cap to the pole and using two screws on each side piece. Overall, the bookshelf came together without a hitch. As a corner unit, it not only looks fantastic but also offers ample storage space on each shelf. This is the kind of item that, if I spotted it in a store, I wouldn't hesitate to toss into my cart. Simple and effective shelf. Not too difficult to assemble. Says it takes 30 minutes, but it personally took me an hour. Only tool required is a screwdriver. It's not necessary, but having someone to help or a power drill would greatly simplify the building process. The instructions could be a bit more clear, but it's not that confusing if you take a second to think about how the finished product is going to look and piece together. The 5-tier zigzag corner shelf looks nice and was fairly simple to put together. The screws don’t feel particularly strong, so it might not hold up well if you try to move it around a lot after assembly.
