CAP has been around for a long time doing these, so their reputation for a "good value" dumbbell is not to be questioned. Are there more "quality products" out there? Probably, but for the price and quality, this cannot be beat. I would personally rate those neoprene at about a 9.5/10 which is near perfect. They are VERY comfortable in terms of grip and the size is proportioned. Extremely easy to work out with, won't slip from your hands either and sweat won't be a problem with those. This was my starting kit (see picture, it's at the bottom of the medium rack). And although the rack works for the 3, 5 and 8 lbs. I ultimately chose to use it for my 1, 2 and 3 lbs. which I feel fit better. The rack is made of plastic too, so don't expect something industrial, but for tiny weights it is very nice. This collection would be great I'm sure for a woman starting out on weights, a kid or an elderly. For me though, I do a lot of drop sets and wanted to micro-manage my last set with the max I can tolerate after all that pain. Also important if you do boxing or martial arts to "shadow box" with, again with the max you can tolerate on a particular day. Finally those are great for jogging as well. Being black, they don't look corny like... pink, yellow or whatever weird pastel color which most light weights are. I think this is a great set to start out with if you want to build a "light weight" collection like I did. ... show more
